Watching that just makes me sad. Where did that ccp go?
that and everyone has alts for everything so they can solo. everytime someone wants to build or research something its “oh ill train my alt to do it”
i will agree on this one and i think it goes back to boiling down to all the farming people do on alts to get anywhere.
I miss when stuff was happening that created stories.
Back in the day, there was someone telling an epic and dramatic story in the forums every day… about something that happened.
Now it’s mostly ideas being tossed around for minutiae changes to the solo gameplay arena.
We got rid of the hurtful pirates… but we threw out the fascinating and entertaining stories with them.
- The AT
- A proper fanfest
- The community team
- CCP Guard
- Live events that gave players influence on the game’s lore
- Nullsec with multiple powerblocks
- An industry without rorquals
- The rarity of capital ships
- The rarity of dockable stations
- Entertaining streamers like SirSqueebles and Zarvox Toral
- The roadmap. The times when CCP still had hope, plans and a vision for EVE.
I played many games in the last 20 years … When a company doesnt have a roadmap for their game anymore its usually the beginning of the end.
EDIT: By making this list i have realized how much we have lost in the last 7 years. Crazy. No wonder EVE is on the decline.
Battleclinic .
The good, the bad, the silly fits. I’ve never been into forums so that part not so much.
I went to look at my oldest killmails (all my early losses and my first ever PvP kill ) but the site has vanished.
I think I’ve still got them in some evemail format on the accounts but I doubt zkillboard will be able to process them.
I didn’t mind the stations. It just made some areas of New Eden a bit more unique.
Not every system had a station but usually there was a NPC station within a couple of jumps.
This just made the Orca and running a POS worthwhile.
A POS in those sort of locations was a worthwhile target. Now we have asset safety so pointless.
Maybe some areas of null sec very early on before alliances were able to build “stations”.
Lack of stations sure didn’t stop us living in wormholes!
From a player who played back in the day. I just unsubbed 2 accounts and uninstalled Eve, why?
I miss the feeling that you can accomplish something in Eve, that what i did mattered. Eve seems barren, empty, yet full at the same time, full of bots, garbage structures littering space, really sad for me, reminded me of a garbage filled abandoned shopping mall.
I miss the big rivalry’s, I miss the clean ship trees and classic mechanics, i miss old sov play, noways is just one huge static blob controlled by a few people.
I loved Eve back in the day, it was the game i have played most intensely in a lifetime of gaming.
Eve will never die, its on its knees, but brings enough income to sustain what it currently is, CCP can not change it, or they risk losing what players are left, with no guarantee of new players filling the cash void.
A last post for me, and a sad one , for me at least.
Can I have your stuff ?

Given the recent success of other classic servers it may be worth looking at some of the things that CCP has taken away. It makes me feel like the game was more feature rich in the past than it is today.
Given the blast of a time i have with WoW:Classic i can only support this.
I can hardly motivate to login to todays EVE and i have specifically came back to this forum to search for information on a classic server (with the functional state of around 10 years ago but with Graphics of today). Without Skill Injectors, with the old stations, old clones, piracy, and warping animation and so on. I cannot exactly specify when it took a completely wrong turn but it was around the time Dust was announced i assume…
Some people have to get that starting a new universe from scratch is interesting for new players and yes there is conflict of interest because the old assets people amassed over all these years become obsolete in the new universe and yes of course these people will always argue against this because there is no privilege for them anymore.
You never know. I think I would go for an “Eve Classic”. Bitter old vets still have a big advantage in that they already know what and how to train to get ahead faster. (Learning skills again, moan…) They would know how to pvp/pve already. They also would be able to insta organize a large null block again. Far faster than when hardly any of us knew how to do it back then. As I said before, you can only lose your virginity once…
Seeing Kalynn Shardani at 350km when ganking freighters at Uedama.
What happened to ag anyway?
Lower warp speed
I miss multiple monitor support.
I also miss my old gallente avatar. Sometime since 2003 I had to redesign it.
Where is the jukebox???
I also miss the the intro music from beta. I guess the name was something like “full of stars” and “stellar shadows”…
I can’t say right now what I miss, I just returned from a 10+ years hibernation.
I miss the players!
It was much more social game, more interactions.
Now people only interact with “Dock up” key.
Lets rename the game… Botlands Online.
Could you expand on this please ? I can play either multiple clients on different monitors, or a single client spread across multiple monitors, so I don’t understand your comment.
There was an option waaay back where we could use it full screen using multiple monitors. Tbh after reading your message and using the client windowed I don’t miss it that much anymore
It would be nice to place some ui elements in other monitors without changing the pilot’s “view” (for example, fitting, chat in a window, drones, radar / itens in another with hangar and a main monitor with the ship’s view). But that is a wish, not something I miss
When Windows first came out you could move the child windows outside the main window so you could have, for instance, had just the ‘space-view’ on one monitor and all the overview, chat, drone control etc. stuff on the other monitor. It’s a great pity they didn’t retain that option, some games would be so much better for it.
ccp removed it long ago They said most people were not using it anymore.
ccp has a soundcloud but I prefer this
Went to that site and just played stellar shadows… OMG…
Damn ninjas with onions
