What Eve is like for a new player

Good troll or bad liar

If that’s the kinda thing they are referring to, like balos, or elena, LSG and some of the more recent threads that have popped up.

We’re talking about people who were playing the game for a few days, didn’t get what they expected and so suggested sweeping changes to eve’s core concepts to make eve more like the MMOs they are familiar with.

Our rejection of this kind of player is not the same as rejecting or being an arse hole to new players in general.

I agree, I just like to be blunter about it.

Yes…that’s my attitude failing…what don’t you get about this? I’m failing at EVE to be honest and I can’t see a way to make it work…it’s odd to say that but there is it…but it’s on ME, not the game.

“new players can find a corp in minutes” is pretty much bullcrap,

Plus there the long running new player corps that generally reside in or near 1.0 new player systems…seriously, it’s not hard.

EVE is a hard game…always has been and most likely always will be…THAT is what the numbers say…

I’m here trying to be positive and say that finding a corp isn’t that hard yet you take it as I’m a bitter vet or something else skewed…like I said, it’s attitude and yours seems a little borked.

Then you blew it, maybe you need better hunting skills.

Zero brain power to play? I need some of what you’re smoking obviously my stuff isn’t good enough if I’m actually thinking while playing.

Very well said and 100% completely true.

Also there’s a very small percentage of players that actually browse these forums. It’s not like there’s a bunch of pop-ups in-game directing new players to look here for answers, right?

I browse for learning purposes as a newby. Iv had a few interesting conversations on here today. It is good if you don’t get too emotional about things as a Noob and by the sounds of things a lot of other newby players are a bit overwhelmed by Eve. I feel like my positivity towards Eve in its current form as a new players seems to be seen as ignorant in a way. But I genuinely like what is hard about Eve. From what I see new players who are leaving for these reasons are probably better suited to Call Of Duty.

Great to hear that and welcome to Eve.

Sooo, how did you happen to find out about these forums?

If you ever need a bit of ISK to help out with something, let me know (here)…your attitude is exactly what EVE needs.

(yes I also see the irony in this offer)

I appreciate the offer of Isk, but respectfully say no thank you, that would make things too easy :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Maybe you missed my question:

Sooo, how did you happen to find out about these forums?

Oh sorry mate, I was on the Reddit Page reading about a few things and then I pretty much found this Forum soon after, I like this forum, Im only in a single man Corp and a very inactive alliance so the forums are a good way for me to keep up with what’s going on.

Good riddance. You might have a better experience in World of WarCraft. You get a free “boost” to max level and they hand out purples like candy now. Or maybe Candy Crush would fit your style.

Look no further than the toxic comments to understand why new player retention is always so low.

Constructive criticism is all I see. You would rather keep players that have a strong opinion who are obviously passionate about Eve than new players that are just blow-ins. ( Im new btw ) and enjoy the comments and what people really think.

Not all New players run from the challenge of Eve or from heavy opinions
