No, it’s game design that encourages people to find things out for themselves; Eve doesn’t give things to you on a platter, it uses the platter to knock you out and then steals your stuff. In that respect it harks back to days of yore, when even the simplest games were challenging, because they had no manual.
Allowing people to explore and experiment with the boundaries of the physics and rules was a conscious design choice by CCP.
If people don’t like the rules of the game, nobody is forcing them to play.
Except for the part where suicide gankers are not griefers, because they play within the rules. The last suicide ganker that could be even remotely classed as a griefer was Erotica1.
Neither is a PvP sandbox with very few rules, yet apparently you’ve been having trouble with it for years. Have you considered the possibility that your problem with Eve is you, not Eve?
The concept that this is the intentional aspects of the game? You are right in that - it really shouldn’t be that difficult for people such as yourself to understand…and yet…
I’ve always been amazed that some people spend so much of their time commenting on a game they loudly boast about hating and not playing.
Whoa!!! Did he just say it would be “unfair to lose everything when nothing could be done to prevent the loss”??? Whoa!!! I can’t believe it! I can’t! In a thread denouncing … I say … DENOUNCING … the unfairness of Suicide Ganking … I say … the UNFAIRNESS of one person risking nothing and taking away something that someone else has worked hard for months to obtain … the UNFAIRNESS of cheap, disposable ships being able to easily destroy Billion ISK ships… Did this guy just come into this thread and say it would be UNFAIR to lose items when you can do nothing to prevent it???
Its Typical EVE Online Forum Propaganda!
Scamming Noobs is Okay … But AWOXING IS NOT!!!
Suicide Ganking is Okay … But losing items in a player Station that got destroyed is NOT!!!
RULE # 1 is “Don’t Fly what you can’t afford to lose.” But RULE # 2 is NOT “Don’t store what you can’t afford to lose.”
Risk is something the solo player faces.
Reward is something the major corps and alliances get!
EVE Online is NOT a sandbox with very few rules
The Rules favor the aggressor. The Mechanics favor the aggressor.
For example, Empire Faction standing. this set of “RULES” prevent non-aggressive players from engaging in mischief because it threatens a punishment. Loss of Empire Faction Standing, and being attacked and shut out by the Empire factions. However, Empire Faction standing rules are sauce for the Aggressor. He doesn’t care about them anyway, so they don’t hinder him in any way, shape, form or fashion!
Another example of Mechanics which favor the aggressor are WARP CORE STABILIZERS. Only a NON-aggressive player would fit such a mod, and fitting a warp-core stabilizers HEAVILY punishes the person that fits it, by reducing their targeting range to virtually ZERO! Creating a condition where the aggressor can attack and have no reason to fear a response!
And, these things lead to other totally lop-sided engagements …
And I could go on and on …
If EVE Online were a PvP game it would advertise itself as such. It does NOT.
EVE Online is a business desperate to stay alive, and it has nothing to sell, except cheap thrills, of suicide ganking… which apparently there is a market for.
No, darling, what I did was having way more fun in the past in NPC Null sec when I didn’t have to worry about if I cannot fight back the next day because some larger group just steamrolled all my assets out of reach. I also had more fun when Null sec consisted primarily of outposts, which could not be destroyed and I didn’t have to worry having all my assets removed from the space I live in just because a bigger group invaded me.
But what could a school corp alt know about these things.
You probably invested the 5min of time it takes to research the options you have to make the thing you want to do safe. OP thinks that is too much to ask from a player. He thinks a video game should not require you to learn the rules of the video game but just give you a nice and warm feeling all the time.
I really wonder who Fab Rod / Alpha Slow is. My bet is on Lucas Kehl, a former forum troll and cheater who used illegal input multiplexing software to mine in highsec and blamed gankers when CCP banned the cheat software. I bet it’s him
no fab rod, I just think it is funny how you insult others meanwhile you cry about game mechanics you could completely avoid if you just tried to use your brain a bit
You are like the little brother who is really bad at Monopoly and cries for moms help to change the game rules so she can “balance the game” which is obviously rigged in everyone elses favour. Thats the kind of player you are
I’m complaining about what is obviously poor game design. The game doesn’t sufficiently inform the players when there is the potential for devastating loss. This is an undeniable fact.
It is pretty funny that you are too dense to figure that out and continually lashing out out of fear of losing your easymode noob bashing playlist.
You probably don’t have the mental faculties to understand this, but unlike most people, I actually care when things are unfair even if they don’t effect me.
I think it must suck to be someone actually prefers noob targets that won’t fight back and will deny the obvious in your desperation.
More random obviousness.
Also, as has been repeated multiple times, there are two types of fairness here.
It’s fair because all players have the opportunity to access the same tools as everyone else.
The players might use “unfair” tactics, but in this sandbox, this type of play is allowed, encouraged, and expected.
Remember that you also have access to these same tactics - if you are a player.
Come join us, or go away. That’s fair, don’t ya think?
