You see a little old lady. Do you hold the door open to be polite as you do for everyone? Or only because she seems older than you? Frail? Less capable? Would you do it for a woman in her 20s? An old man? A young one? Is holding it open because you think it might be difficult for a person to open still being polite or is that making a rude snap judgement about this person? Maybe they only look frail but do yoga daily and are 100 years young.
Or maybe you are looking way into this for demons that don’t exist. Maybe It’s your own quest to find some ulterior motive that is clouding your view. Maybe it really was just GF and nothing more.
You are overdramatizing the seriousness of someone merely suggesting that GF is not always meant nicely. I mean I know for absolute fact it is not always meant so. No quest necessary.
Perhaps you should question why you are so desperate to hold to the myth that everyone in EVE is always polite to everyone else in EVE, even when EVE is legendary for the exact opposite?
Here’s the proper protocol:
-If you win the fight, say GF so you can be a chivalrous and cool regular guy. Like Enemy Ace.
-If it was a close solo fight, and the other guy also said GF, consider discussing how it happened and/or sharing your fit.
-If you lose, say GF to let everybody know you’re a pro and not a whiney sore loser.
-If you get killed at a gate camp or by an overwhelming blob, don’t say GF. 'Cause you’d just look like an obseqious fool.
It’s more complex than that. And has nothing with “being offended” or “behave like adult” or anything like that.
“gf” is like “good sport”. Either it is “good” or it is not.
For example: let’s say we roam with 3-4 people. And we get to system when something is mining/ratting/whatever. We attack and then locals drop overwhelming force on us. Like carriers and such. And they don’t even do it properly so they unable to catch any of us.
As result no fight happened. No kills produced. No fun.
This will not get “gf” from me.
Other case: we get baited and ambushed. This will get “gf”. Because people actually played the game and won us strategically.
Another case is when we see that there is no reason to engage and we find a way out. In this case we might write “gf” as sign that we consider the party over.
As for me, I’m a full loot pvp aficionado and i’ve been waiting for EVE to get good enough for me to actually play it for years. Unfortunately, the game just seems to get worse. IMO The game was much better when suicide ganking was more expensive and thus reserved for select targets rather than how it is now where weakling players use it to grief random newbs because they can and it costs them next to nothing.
Considering the lack of options players have in pvp, its a joke of a game from my perspective.
But you will hang out here on the forums of a game you don’t play and ■■■■■ about it, trying to change the game you don’t play to something tickles your fancy, and to hell with anyone else that currently plays the game?
It is also the reason you probably live on these forums instead of having a real social life.
How do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you live on these forums making a fool of yourself daily?

The other possibility is that you’re unhinged.
So, really, I do hope you find a game that you enjoy playing - something other than “Troll a Game I Don’t Play”.
I see people are still committed to the same 5+ year old ‘complaints’ about the game, while somehow just not getting that everything here is working as intended. There is nothing stopping any of you from making some friend, getting a group together, and forming a counter-fleet to take the gatecampers to task. And if they run away, take over their system and start gatecamping yourselves to make sure they never return.
Or are you the type that prefers to play an MMO like this one completely solo? Cuz, that would be entirely on you. Entirely.
Well, I don’t log into the game nowhere near as much as I use to do and yeah, I’m waiting for CCP to hopefully make the game better. Quite honestly, Suicide Ganking is all too commonplace in the game now.
Hell, I was cruising on Auto Pilot through High Sec in my Loki talking in chat channels when a couple of T1 Cruisers with Drones decided to gank my ship. I noticed my shields taking damage so I quickly activated my Invul Field for +75% Omni resists and my double amplified Shield Booster for over 900 HP/s and watched them get Concorded while I finished slowboating to the gate.
Took me a couple of minutes to return back to that system where I asked them in Local chat why they even attempted that. Their reply was that they were bored and wanted to see if they could pull it off. I then said ‘You want PvP, I’m here now, let’s do it.’ Their reply was ‘Naw, we got other targets to gank’.
So that’s the problem with Eve, bored players not caring enough to actually make a plan that will work and then consequently not even working their original plan in the first place.
