When is CCP going to fix ECM?

To be broken ecm would have, for ccp to fix. Broken therefore it is not. Yes, hrrmmm.

No, ECM bursts are not the same as ECM. ECM bursts were never affected, if people stayed locked onto you when you used them then you were either unlucky with the rng or they were too far away

I mean, 1000 DPS from a hecate is quite alot. Most faction cruisers donā€™t even get those numbers.

Oh I wasnt really including the T3s.

Ive no idea about them really, so if they can challenge a BS, or at least bash it a bit, then thatā€™ll do it.

Thanks for that

Contrary to every MMO out there, they were foolish enough to implement 1v1 PvP instances.

Now there are on a fools errand to balance those ships in 1v1.

i vote we change it to real life, jamming works 100% based on the power/rangeand not a rng chance that you might get jammed or or shorter jam cycles. once you get jammed you stay jammed unless you overpower the jam or move out of range where the power of the jam is weaker!

As soon as they broke ECM guess what filled the void? Neuts. Iā€™d argue that neuts are 200% more toxic than ECMs ever were. Sure, you could fit ECM on unbonused ships and itā€™d still be viable, but you could always do that with any type of EWAR.

Making the argument that a 300k griffin shouldnā€™t be able to jam out a T3 is nonsensical. Thatā€™s like saying the same 300k griffin shouldnā€™t be able to fit a warp disruptor to prevent a 3b marauder from logging off.

Should character death also be permanent?

What exactly is the problem with ECM today? I see what people want ECM to do, but why is ECM bad now?

Iā€™ve used ECM since like 2004 or something on my main PvP character. My last video is me killing Fed comets and Daredevils with my ECM Heron setups. They were pretty powerful in solo PvP even un-bonused like my Heron and even more powerful with ECM bonused ships in groups like with my Kitsune and Tengu ECM builds.

As a primarily ECM support pilot, I still see ECM useful with the Tengu for example. Sitting long range, sniping with ballistics and ECM still works. I have the target locked on me, they can only lock me and no one else. This is fine. Iā€™m long range, kiting, and hard to pin down for majority of all targets Iā€™m jamming in the skirmishes I fight in.

Are there counters to me? Yes. I can jam a recon, but also be neuted as part of that lock down. Thatā€™s fine. Neut me all day. Focus your energy on me. My cronies are focusing you down in the process.

So, whatā€™s the issue there?

The issue is that T2 ECM boats, as well as the ecm tengu and the griffin navy, are far inferior than their T1 counterparts. T1 boats recieve a range bonus which helps them mitigate damage and actually be useful in fleets. T2 ECM boats recieve a strength bonus, but can only fully apply their jams at 30-40km compared to the 80km optimal that T1 ECM boats get. This means that despite being a more expensive and specialized hull, the T1 variant is simply more effective at being bait.

Iā€™d be fine with T2 ECM boats getting like 150km optimal range, but that would make them end up basically forcing whatever ship it jams to not be able to shoot anything, as well as being 100% safe even if they miss a jam.

Yeah, being 100% safe is not a good trade off. But, you are forgetting that while T1 has more range, T2 has more tank. Thatā€™s the trade off balance there. Tengu can obviously tank a lot more than T1 ships. The same is true for the Recons. More tank, more DPS, less range.

With base stats,
The blackbird has marginally worse ehp than the falcon, even with the T2 resists
The griffin has marginally worse ehp than the kitsune, even with the T2 resists
The scorpion has almost 50% more ehp than the widow, blops have no T2 resists
In exchange the BB gets a 62.5% bonus to ewar optimal/falloff and the scorpion gets a 125% bonus to ewar optimal/falloff

One notable exception to T2 EWAR ships being garbage is the rook. it gets nearly 20% more base ehp than the blackbird, which equates to 6k EHP more than a blackbird! Thatā€™s almost one entire unfit cruiser worth of ehp!

And yet people wonder why nobody uses T2 ECM ships

Well here is the base stuff.

Griffin

  • Racial = 51.8 km + 48.6 km
  • Multi = 34.6 km + 32.4 km

Kitsune

  • Racial = 90.7 km + 48 km
  • Multi = 60.7 km + 32.4 km

Blackbird

  • Racial = 84.2 km + 79 km
  • Multi = 56.2 km + 52.6 km

Rook / Falcon

  • Racial = 51.8 km + 48.6 km
  • Multi = 34.6 km + 32.4 km

Tengu

  • Racial = 77.8 km + 48.6 km
  • Multi = 51.8 km + 32.4 km
  • Faction Multi (what I always fly) = 56.2 km + 35.1 km

So, regardless of EHP, most have over 50 km optimal with racial and 80 km optimal and falloff to get a jam off from a snipe position. These numbers donā€™t include ECM module enhancements or anything nor faction modules outside of the Tengu multi I listed.

Sure, they are not exactly like the Kitsu 90 km optimals, but not exactly short range either. Falloff is not death for ECM.

would a better option be, on a successful JAM cycle the target looses all locks and has to re acquire any previously locked target. (can not lose lock on the jamming ship)

Fixed it for you

Sure, they have half decent range at 50km. The problem is, why would anyone bother using a T2 ECM ship when the T1 variant requires less skill, costs less and performs better in itā€™s given role?

Depends on application of course. My Kitsune, which does MWD with ECM to kite and provide long-range ECM support has lower EHP and lower ECM strength to power. This leaves less resources to tank of those using AB or no prop mods with no ballistics.

Compared to the Falcon which can cloak, tank (shield or armor), and still kite with a MWD, but much slower like a brick. If you shield tank, you can still provide ECM support and have higher ECM strength than the Kitsune, which is extremely limited on either because it only has 5 mid slots with 2 low slots compared to the Falconā€™s 7 mid slots and 3 low slots.

Sorry, does this kitsune not exist on your killboard or something? Iā€™m not seeing any of them.

This is my marketing/indust alt. My main is no longer active atm. Gif below is my Kitsune in action.

As an EWAR pilot, I second this motion. I have no problem with keeping things as they currently are with the Griffin and Blackbird, but CCP should not have made these changes to the T2/T3 ECM ships.
