That used to be the case before abyssal modules and other mechanics such as extended warp scram range and because the sub 2 seconds instalock wasn’t well-known and abused mechanic. These days gatecamps are even multiboxed by one player and they have sub 2sec instalock and at least 26km scram + web.
What can you do now if you don’t have cloak against this? Multibox a scout in capsule and scout every gate in lowsec you jump to? I wouldn’t really call that a counterplay…

Avoid low-sec like the plague and stay in high-sec. Then scratch your head when low-sec complains about the lack of content, demands buffs to ganking and advocates for more removal of high-sec content (missions, mining, PI, manufactuting) to force high-sec players into low-sec.

I once took it seriously as well. Mainly because we had about 40 people in our group and we managed to achieve something. We had some rivals, some friends, and a lot of fun while it lasted. We took it seriously because it was one of the few video games that scratched a particular itch.
Sort of a “dasein in space” I guess. Our place felt like ours even though it wasn’t, while other games managed to achieve the opposite. That was special. And worth logging in for.

You are mistaken. Low sec players have plenty of content and they don’t come to highsec to gank. That is domain of nullsec players.
I know no ganker who is also pirating in lowsec. At least on more frequent basis like hotdropping. Lowsec hunting requires too much effort that they barely have time to go elsewhere.
Also who is demanding any buffs to ganking??? Quote it.

Oh? Is your time worth nothing to you? You certainly do pay if you are spending your time playing EvE. I pay money to ccp because the things I enjoy doing ingame require that. If you are having fun on no-money mode then, cool…but you are indeed paying.

It is always like this. Their AFK mining barge/exhumer or AFK hauling Tayra gets ganked. They cry and they are mad and so they go to forums and start spamming anti-ganking threads over and over and argue about 100% safe space so they can never ever endure that pain again.
Some even become a kill mail whores and sit next to the station camping gankers or at Uedama gate for hours every day to get on the killmail on the ship that is going to be destroyed anyway thinking they are achieving anything.
