These forums were very active but CCP destroyed the continuity of them by replacing the forum software, appearance and functionality over and over and over again. Every time they change the forums they get way slower.
The next time they change forum software it should kill off the use of the forums completely.

This can be done both ways. Usually a lot 'a people who complain ābout censorship are assholes thinkinā they should be able to get away with everything and they usually really deserve to get banned.

They run around and post their garbage, and then thereās another group of assholes who run around and respond to any and all garbage, ruininā it for everyone else. The amount of shitters lackinā impulse control is beyond acceptable.

The first thing that CCP should do to revitalize these forums is to open up the CAOD section to what it was before, in terms of anything goes for inter corp, alliance stuff. Limited moderation and let the fun start. There is nothing wrong in chest beating and all that glorious insults in a place where it is fun to do so. That is what Reddit allows and that could be CAOD, why not? Well actually that may be difficult for CCP as the moral police will be on them, but that is the only thing that would stop it.
However in terms of game design and general stuff you need to moderate with a firmer hand because your objectives are different, and this is why these forums suck and why I linked the AFK cloaky thread and one of its most stupid trolls, that is a discussion thread on AFK cloaky camping as a mechanic that is trolled to the level of Reddit and it should not be if it is to be useful.
And this is why most of you have no idea or appear to have no idea at all about what official game forums should be about, it should be compartmentalized for what the forums are supposed to do as the game forum and it is not.
Anyway, as Dom decided to score personal Reddit karma, or whatever that is, he raised it to a Reddit thread. Reddit for me is perfectly fine, I know what it is, I use it for the stuff that CAOD used to be, and without the elitism of Kuga, OK. Also I have seen pretty detailed ideas posted on Reddit, some damn good stuff too, though a certain elite PvPārs whine about not being able to take down a Rorqual in his nano gang was the most pathetic one I have ever seen and is still talked about in my alliance as being way badā¦

Astounding how many there are genuinely angry at me, though I dont even post on reddit, nor have posted with them here.
Confirms everything I said about moderation, content and community there, and why they are there.

The issue is why devs are more active there in that cesspit, rather than here on their own official board.
The reddit format might be better than this forum for some, but that is irrelevant regarding how badly things are going there in regards to community behavior/moderation which would result in suspensions both here on the official board AND ingame if issued there as TOS/EULA violations.
Lets say Devs did most of their posting on SA forum, rather than here or player-run reddit. Surely that would be immediately recognised and addressed as a problem.
Solution:
CCP can make an official EVE subreddit, and staff it with ISDs and Community Support staff.
That way both clients and devs get to use their (apparently) preferred format, and the standards of TOS/EULA in regards to conduct towards other players/clients and Devs can officially be overseen and enforced by vetted moderators.

This demonstrates just how much you donāt know. The notion of companies (or developer studios for that matter) owning and running subreddits is something the admins frown on very heavily. A good example is PGI, Mechwarrior Online where they tried to take over the subreddit of a failed crowdfunded game (Transverse ring a bell?). Their Community Manager deleted everything except developer posts, and Reddit banned all of PGI for using Reddit as their advertising platform.
It shows you donāt know what youāre talking about at all. Even if your āsolutionā gets implemented, the real community which matters will just move on to a different subreddit or to another platform. You canāt force us to use a platform which is not fit for purpose.

You can use whatever platform you want.
The issue is what platform are CCP staff using, instead of one that is officially their own and moderated by vetted staff.
Currently, they are using a player-run site where a moderatorās post of āF*gā has been not only stickied, but awarded 2gold stars, rather than using this official site provided/paid/moderated for the purpose of interfacing with the community of players.
Its you that is missing the point here.

Assuming the hypothetical where we move to a different platform or subreddit, thereās nothing to stop CCP from following us there while /r/eve becomes the wasteland you want it to be. You wonāt accomplish anything.
The real community which doesnāt read or post here are the ones who create the explosions which continue to promote the game, and CCP staff follows us there for good reason. No reasonable person wants to read the boring bleating which comes from this forum.
Just because we donāt respond to every single complaint thread, or the fiftieth thread of the week whining about AFK cloakers
from CCP Falcon should be illuminating enough to you on what they mostly see here, and itās boring. Stop being boring.
