The point here is that some of those people are called “EVE Online Developers”. Your dislike of Reddit is clouding your ability to understand why this is happening. Without understanding how do you imagine to change it?
Indeed
Jenn has attacked and insulted the Devs/CCP for just about every significant change/expansion for years.
Ironic.
The gigX SKIN?
I dont expect to change it.
Eve Reddit has the Devs eating “dark side” cookies out of their hand.
The Devs no doubt also feel less restricted on Reddit, and enjoy its arbitrary chaos.
I explained my posting above, you didn’t read it. I was involved in this train wreck for too long, and like you I didn’t want to understand how I was partly responsible for it. I thought I was just having fun playing forum pvp.
What I was really doing was I was feeding my need to confront people I don’t like, namely you, Epeen, Lucas Kell, Dinsdale, Dracvlad and whoever that guy was that had all those alts like Market McSelling Alt. It was just mental masturbation, I didn’t come here to talk to people about EVE (which is what we do on reddit), I came for a philosophical fight with people I knew would never see things my way.
Those days are over for me, mainly because I realize that doing all that was stupid and wasteful, and also because I realize that what you think about a game I enjoy doesn’t matter one bit.
Jenns motives/agenda revealed at long last.
Not that its any surprise to any of us.
sigh
Jenn, we recognized your personal antipathy years ago, and how you argued just to argue cos you “dont like” some posters.
We also saw you crap all over Devs/CCP at every change.
If there is one thing Im glad about reddit for, is there is less of your posting here causing problems just for the sake of it.
Im not surprised you enjoy it there.
Fits your niveau, and you can act out whenever you want with no repercussions.
Being on Jenn’s dislike list makes me very happy being what that poster is. I take that as a bloody great win! Because I have not come across anyone as self-important in this game as Jenn and telling everyone who can be bothered to listen how good he is at PvE was amusing as hell with the hate spilling out of every post, but boring to boot, yawn…
I give you a hint why they act so quickly about the SKINs. RL money is involved, they don’t want paying customers to get angry. It’s something more common in gaming industry today. People responsible for making games are more concern about monetization than making enjoyable games. Look what happen with EA and SW franchise. They made a beautiful game with boring gameplay and add looboxes. Why? They thought SW will sell anyway and they just wanted to milk it as hard as possible.
CCP don’t have a luxury to made mistakes. They already flop the NOVA before it even launched. Free game with microtransactions? Look what happen to EA and tell me how it will end, judging from players reaction to that bussines model.
Habit.
That’s why we have forums, we keep them around like ruined colosseums.
This was an old topic on game forums in games I played last more than a decade ago, talking about re-inventing the wheel is a popular online past-time, rather than actually re-inventing.
CCP thinks their product is not a social network, they think their forums are not a social network.
That divergence hides the real truth, in that, their game and their methods of talking to players are exactly the same thing.
Some marketing manager that used to run a telephone call centre, or product support sweatshop gets put in charge of the social network of a game and the first answer is to spend as little as possible on the forums. Both in time and money, which are both the same imaginary construct.
Really CCP could get rid of these forums and nobody would care.
They could also re-imagine how they talk to people, but that will not happen.
Reddit is the handy magic bullet, which marketing people fire into the head of their games.
Reddit is a cesspit, but it’s a customisable cesspit and it’s pretty cheap. The only real possible cost is that any ten accounts can control your sub, but that’s not a quantifiable cost, so we can ignore that. That controllability is the phenomenon known in reddit as circle-jerking, the un-ironic title of one of the more popular subs there.
And now to logout again, I logged in to talk about something important, Project Discovery, but lingered here to spread some bitterness. Enjoy.
As all can see, the recurring theme is that “its everything but us”!. Its money, or some null sec conspiracy, or forum software. Anything but our own behavior.
Plot twist. Its your own behavior, me included. Point blank. At least some of us can learn (see I haven’t responded any negative posts).
If you want devs here, be the change you want to see. Start there.
It was you who started with the name calling and petty insults based on your massive ego, you should look at yourself in a mirror and think a bit. And you were fragile too and would report posts where people replied in kind. But it was thanks to you doing this that I had a stunning success on this forum.
No.
We are not complicit in your willfull antipathy towards CCP and a shortlist of posters.
Its ironic, that once you realized your own behavior, years later, you left. Instead of changing for the better here, you simply left.
Ive no doubt you are doing the same thing as before even now on reddit, just now you feel among others like you in their toxicity and negativity.
The least you could do, is apologize for what you did all these years here, with the motive you admitted above.
The forums really could use some love. I miss being able to talk to people who actually played and loved this game when I had issues, instead of mods that shut down my threads and then give me one line responses as to what exactly caused that. Current forums look pretty and function fairly well I think, it just lacks a loving community of mods that aim to interect and innovate with the community, instead of just moderate like facebook.
P.S I’m surprised this thread hasn’t been shut down yet, they take criticism about as well as nazi Germany.
When you have a problem and you post it into General Discussions, Crime & Punishment or Out of Pod Experience, then really all you’re telling CCP is that you have a communications problem, because this part of the forum belongs to the Communications Center.
When players with grievances already fail to post into the right sections then there is a good chance they got a few other things wrong right from the start as well.
General Discussion is often not more than a training ground for reading comprehension.
I will say this one thing and only this because my old policy of not replying to you was the right one.
I never reported a single post of yours. I wish I could somehow authorize ccp to confirm that for you.
You never said anything to me that seemed like a physical threat, so I had no reason to. What you posted was imo stupid but not criminal (so to speak).
The fact that you have spent all this time thinking I had something to do with your forum punishments says a whole lot about why I listed you with dinsdale…
This. If you want a dev response, post in the right ■■■■■■■ section, and post something worth responding to. Every five minutes there’s a new “afk cloaking is bad mm’kay” or “EVE is dieing” thread on GD and it’s nothing the devs haven’t heard before. If the SKINS issue had been posted to the appropriate section of the forums, it would have been addressed there, as are plenty of threads on the forums when they go into the correct section.
GD is GD. General discussion. It’s for the players to discuss general EVE things. The devs rarely get involved in those conversation but I see Falcon in here all the time, and not just to close threads. He engages a lot of players. Devs are engaging in the new player section of the forums, the technical, and other places as well.
I have no interest in reddit, and it will never be a replacement for a proper forum dedicated to the game itself. No game developer worth their salt anywhere is going to leave discussion of their game exclusively on the reddit servers because they all want a forum where they can not just set their own rules, but also collate points of interest from players that are actually worth collating.
If you post something new, something worthwhile, you might just get a dev response. There are a billion threads on reddit not getting dev responses either, so the premise in the OP is based on an exception, not a rule, from the outset, and it’s utterly ridiculous.
Also, reddit is cancer. It’s basically full of 4chan rejects who were already rejects to begin with anyway.
How exactly we should change or into what? I remember discussion with you about pve changes, that it need some types of randomness. I remember how you mocked me then, that this never gona happen, we “hisecces” don’t know what we want, it will be better to revamp anoms in nullsec. And when abyssal space hitted TQ suddenly you like that randomize content as I read from one of your post. See that is the point of discussion when developers steps in, as “we thinking about it”. It would definately calm it and produce some sort of hype, BUT when they butchered community team why do I expect something different? Players can do nothing here. Do you now why I like CCP Dragon? He don’t scare to admit he can’t do something or admit that he was not right.
Maybe its the language issue, but in your case you just didn’t understand what was said to you.
I’m not spending the time here to rehash all that. I still believe cop should add more to what players use instead or trying to force “procedural” whatever pve down peoples throats. But Abyssal deadspace is a good exception to this.
Back on topic. Each passing post is proof of what I’m saying. This place is a toxic cesspit. You can’t be mad at ccp employees for avoiding it for other places.
Well, you can, but that’s dumb.
