That’s right, I’m mining on my twelve rorquals right now.
yeah, it’s an RL insurence fraud.
turns out CCP [redacted A] have been approached by a used office furniture franchise that wants to buy CCP HQ furniture and CCP [redacted A] also would like his ergonomic 10 000$ office chair for the home office. sneaky bugger.
as well as CCP [redacted B] has his/her mind set on being able to open/franchise Iceland’s first gym location for the international gym chain [redacted], and ccp HQ is a fine location for that.
I don’t know and I don’t care about the funding, or what game developer does what and where.
But I do know it a doomed product because eve cant be played on a small screen. I facepalm as much about eve echo as I did about their VR game.
ok first of all, noone is crying, and if they were you should not try to salt their wounds. nothing is gained by that. we all space nerds here.
Also, what are you talking about? “greed is good”?
all I’m saying is that 99% of people farming nullsec put their isk into the marketplace again!
the people that CCP claims they want to target, with all the nerfs to economy etc.. is only really 1% of the player population. and they arent the “null carebears” that your taking about.
0.5% hoard isk and wealth
0.5% is bot farmers for RMT
and tbh - all the nerfs CCP has done has only affected the 99% group of players.
the botters and hoarders are as wealthy as ever, if not even more wealthy.
so.. it’s not a question about a subjective feeling of a good or bad..
It’s a matter of being truthful to the players and its a matter of having a healthy sustaninable game.
+1
its a real shame theese “leet pvp” do not understand the concept of having an ecosystem and that their selfproclamed “top of the hierchy” would simply disapear without an actual hierchy.. omg. dont know if i should cry or laugh.. lol j/k. as if morons could make me sad xD
yeah see.. your not elite pvp if you can only kill easy targets like pve ships.. that is also afk. rofl. seriously, what makes you tick??
i may be a scum lord
but im not a nazi
im love
i love you all
It’s touched upon in the dev blogs.
So you’re saying CCP haven’t nerfed null bounties enough?
Cough cough
lol. no its not. dont be a liar like ccp.
across the board, the reward has gone down.
across the board, the risk has gone up.
so what I’m saying is that the risk/reward ratio is currently at 0.
nerfing bounties more would only mean the risk/reward ratio is on -1
if you want a flourishing game, the risk/reward has to be +1.
So no, I’m not saying that.
btw free britney
Oh well now that you’ve shown me the math i can see where CCP went wrong
Some of us like games with a lot of risk and little reward (like an oasis in a desert). EVE was initially such a game, which is why I started playing it almost two decades ago. I enjoy difficult games with hardcore elements (e.g. full-loot survival PvP games, Minecraft survival mode, Payday 2 on the hardest difficulty setting, etc).
Over time, EVE was changed from its initial form to one where rewards vastly exceeded risks, and now CCP is desperately trying to reverse course because they can see how the game’s social and economic environment got all screwed up with a near absence of the competition for resources that defined it in its early years.
You might see these recent changes as something being taken away from you, but I’m seeing them as something being restored to me. My only regret is that they’re not going far enough be restoring most of the player freedom they’ve bled from the game, which means that despite scarcity, EVE remains in a very stale and predictable state. Most of my EVE friends have left the game for this reason. Maybe they’d come back, if EVE gets restored to a state that closely mimics its beginning.
The game can flourish by going back to its roots and catering to difficulty/survival fans. There’s plenty of those players available to maintain a healthy, populated EVE. But if they want to transition EVE to a cooperative PvE-focused game to capture the new, bigger market of gamers, then they should just do it instead of taking two steps forward and one step back. No more half-measures. Pick a direction and go with it.
Nope. CCP is trying to break what is fix. Characters that are regularly consuming plex is not broken.
When will EVE become fun again? I honestly don’t think so. EVE reminds me of a local chain bar/restaurant that cannot understand why their customer base is shrinking? People come into bars and MMO’s to lose themselves for the moment. Most people want to get away from all their bosses in their real life. Eve has decided. After prompting from the mega alliances and their CSM mouth pieces. To force small solo players/ small 2 to 3 person corporations to join the aforementioned mega alliances! Just really what I do not want to do after being bossed around all day is to be bossed around by some 20 year! Until CCP understands most players are solo adventurers who want to see stuff blow up. Scarcity and Triglavians really crippled my solo High Security enjoyment of EVE Online. Hence my cash payment to EVE ONLINE is now a scarcity item too! Missions became so stale and static it is not even funny. The elimination of ORES in HS and anoms was too much! I tapped out after 11 years! EVE needs to make missioning fun and semi risky again. Missions to improve should very rarely escalate like anoms! Put in some rare ore/ WH to null, Have a wormhole pop up and have a Level 4 suddenly turn into a Level 5/6/or even 7. ( The bad guys retaliate!) If the brain trust at EVE would have spent 25% of the energy put into Walking in Stations, Dust 514, Valkyrie the world of darkness connection. Missions would have been awesome. Hey? Here is an idea. If a mission would suddenly spawn into a LEVEL 5 6 7 and beyond the missioner would have to invite other players. I agree silent quiet players are usually not long term players. Remember EVE ONLINE Einstein’s scientific definition of insanity. Do the same things. The same way. We the same materials. Expect different results.
Even if it were, I could go check myself, but what could we assume that plan to be right now ?
How do you solve the supply problem after scarcity ?
A revert to unhealthy farming simulator mechanics ? More lucrative and one-off events ? (Sansha event last christmas for example …)
I’m open to listen to your ideas about this btw, not just CCP’s.
Yea, coughcough, the player divide has indeed gone pretty embarrassing of late, and needs to stop. We are all brothers and sisters playing our favourite sci-fi video game.
I wouldn’t make any assumptions but CCP can tweak anything quite easily like changing ore DNA again and/or reintroducing 15% basic ore back into moons (they are still in the database). Bounties and the DBS can be changed on a whim.
But it’s not going to back to what it was before where you got 15% arkonor in hi-sec.
Edit- and PI is cited for something of an overhaul.
I give it another couple of weeks max until I quit and then everyone in my corp quits, then everyone in the alliance and surrounding coalition, spiral to death, gg ccp.
Are you saying currently there is 0 risk?
(It would be useful to take a look at this link before you continue using that word: Ratio - Wikipedia because what you’re saying now doesn’t make sense.)
absolutely, all those just like making lots of sh*tcoins in the cryptocurrency space, as I mentioned days ago that’s how devs are treating Eve’s development.
They’ll take some from here and there, you know, selling Masternodes is like selling ingame items (not purely cosmetic) for cash.
DOGE was created in 2 hours, speakin “on a whim”
Well, it’s interesting enough if they do this in cycles.
For it to work would still have to be enough hold the attention of the core bittervet demographic, and not exclude it.
Taking a bet solely on the flock of newer generation players to sustain the system, and basically ■■■■ you to the former, errm, it’s a pipe dream in my opinion, even with as many technical tweaks you can think of.
Eve will quickly become a game solely played by middle-aged grandpas soon enough, if it isn’t the case already …
Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.
A few years ago CCP came up with a bunch of analysis tools that could give them a better insight into the state of the game and player behaviour. I guess it was what made the activity tracker possible.
Anyway, since then, they saw that the game as it was three years ago was unsustainable. Farming was too easy in some activities, risk too low in others, bad wealth distribution, insane stockpiles, losses were meaningless, an overly independent null and that there was a lot of botting and afk play.
This has been the problem for much of the past ~7 years. And retention was bad during that time. ‘Hemorrhaging’ is how they described it. So CCP have chosen a, relatively, short term shock that will hopefully lead to long term gains. For once they aren’t being short-termist or making knee jerk changes. At least with scarcity anyways.
Only time will tell at this point.
It was nice exchanging with you also.
o7
And too easy to farm was whose fault? Who made introductions and changes that made it possible? This is not a damned if do don’ts.
Did CCP directly address problems and remove certain types of gameplay in the scale of such say, industry change, which is arguably affects entire doctrine of HS BS production into the hands of large alliances and pirate cartels, rising the barrier of entry by quite a bit and forces many players to succumb to remote bosses in virtual universe if they want to stay competitive?
This is the one that puts me off the most since I returned to play last Nov after 5 years break. One of the actual change that affects the entire landscape and ecosystem NOT addressing scarcity and depletion of stockpiled RAW materials, but introduced NEW raw materials and intermediates that just make a particular demographics of the playerbase profit off in the long run.
Other changes such are just fiddling around with PARAMETERS that can be changed on a WHIM as per your words, and they are like bandaid solutions, nothing long term but like blind kitchen chemistry. Most of these actions does not directly address majority problems that your stated below or at a scale as they should. Instead of rebalance things of concern in the long run at a slower pace needed to see the effect (they don’t understand as the professor left what, 7 years ago?), CCP introduced something NEW that completely tipped the scale of the balance which is outright BIASED.
Shall we go on farming? you know who introduced Alpha and changed signatures into insta access anomalies so people over farm with their favourite reptiles or VNI? The same people that instead of revert those changes or up the difficulty of access to those sites and keep the profession a niche, instead, just fiddles with ship stats and roles. So convenient of a change EVEN Bots can adapt quicker to those changes everytime they make an adjustment to ship stats.
And look at the effect of a change that they did, right now it’s not “Hemorrhaging” players in terms of retention, it’s a bloody mess that PCU was declining at record speed. Oh summer, c’mon, they said that every year, there’s no Pandemic other than COVID in the past 7 years and we’re at the lowest in more than a decade! Even beats the Blackout now. This retention did not seem to be fixed by Alphas, and there are likely less true newbies with all the SP farming and injectors going on. Oh did I mention that’s not just respec characters? They’ve been selling skillpoints outright for cash many times over!
Does that help retention? I highly doubt so, New char creation is low lately and that’s not counting how many are just vets creating alts and maximize the injector benefits to spec characters for whatever doctrine is popular so they can mostly “FARM” the system out since people always find a way to maximize their ISK/Hour as CCP never touches the underlying problem in the SYSTEM!
Instead, CCP gave up on the ecosystem like how climate change is Hoax and unfixable, and got greedy, citing demographic change and turning sandbox into a themepark/arena shooter (guess they reckon Fortnite and co are what the gamers love now, so they want to turn Eve into Fortnite in space, innovation -10) so they start monetizing more and more shamelessly, openly doing things they claimed they’d never do before!
We’re going in circles as a good portion of these are all brought up by other participants of this thread. The rollout of many updates are knee jerking, 1 week on SiSi and rush to Tranquility has been all I see in 2021 with minor and major changes. that “We are happy with the test results” and the rush without a second thought!
Short term shocks? So this is not summer shock but changes introduced by CCP that caused player decline now? The problem is how much more of unthoughtful shocks can Eve sustain, will there still be an Eve if they did not recover from a shock?
We used to say, cut your wrist off if your hand got bitten by venomous snake, well, that is a tough guy, but not always that such tough guy survives the bleeding/infection. Can Eve survive or PA will dump it off once investors loses confidence if performance is not hitting their target?
CCP has attempted to grow EXTRA limbs and almost all attempts failed, now they are cutting the original limbs of their original body, that’s a brave bet, but are the doctors in the operation room holding the surgical knives, know what they are doing?
It’s CCP’s fault. I don’t think anyone denies that. That was just the design culture at the time.
But that doesn’t make the changes any less necessary.
Balancing can often be twisting knobs here and there and seeing how it turns out.
But at least CCP sat down and literally identified problem areas and goals for scarcity. Again look at the dev blogs. It really is all there.
Now they may not get it precision perfect first time. Maybe some dials will need twisting over the next few years. But we’ve got solid changes in place that have a purpose. Like the ESS letting you fight for the bank and the new ship components that allow CCP to adjust the availability of larger ships without affecting smaller ships.
Only recently as in the past month. Scarcity has been going on since late 2019. So read into that what you will.
