64-Bit Client Mass test on Duality on Tuesday, March 5th

Hello Capsuleers!

We are planning a mass test on Duality on Tuesday, March 5th, at 17:00 UTC (= EVE time)!

What exactly is being tested?

  • THE 64-BIT EVE CLIENT (caps for excited emphasis)

How to connect to Duality for this test:

  1. Restart the launcher
  2. Set the version type to Beta (use the Settings option in the E menu at the upper right - Launcher version will display as 1466262)
  3. Choose Duality as your server (in the lower right)
  4. Start the game
  • More detailed instructions are available here.

Test steps:
Please join the channels MassTesting (for instructions), MassQuestions (for feedback)

  1. We will start in FD-MLJ, at the gate to X-BV98
  2. Sub-capitals: Jump to X-BV98.
  3. Sub-capitals: Warp to Planet X
  4. Capitals: Cyno to X-BV98 (on top of the fleet)
  5. Warp to Keepstar
  6. Dock at Keepstar,
  7. Open windows and neocom services.
  8. Undock
  9. Warp to Poitot gate

Capital ships aren’t a requirement for mass testing.

Will Duality be recloned from TQ for this event?

When will duality open to the masses? I think I have it set up correctly (the launcher reports different release versions for TQ, sisi and duality) but have no way of checking as it does not accept any kind of connection.

The server DB was mirrored from TQ over the weekend (using a previously generated master). It will be fairly up to date when Duality opens to the public.

We will reactivate the server and open it to the public in the next 24 hours (TBD).

im dim, is 64 bit client, single core?

Silly question: for clarity, can Mac users test also ?

@Insidious threading and core usage will remain unchanged in this initial iteration, but having the client in 64 bit puts in a better position for future optimization and memory usage.

@Vapor in the current schedule, mac users should be able to sign in, but will not be able to run the 64bit client. So you can arrive and be content, or contentedly stay away.

If and when we manage to get things compiled correctly, we’ll be rolling out the 64 Mac client as well, but there’s still ongoing work and decision making there (please see this post for more details).

You said that ;
Participants will receive a reward of two million skillpoints (available only on the test server Singularity).

But you want us to connect duality not singularity…
Sorry didnt get how to earn skill points?

Duality will be closed again after this, so giving the points on Duality would be a waste

Yup. Connect to DUALITY and participate in the mass test (using the updated launcher to be put into 64bit mode), and you’ll be rewarded with SP on Singularity where you can use them.

How long before the start of the event will we be able to download any updates we need?

Funny you should ask.

Actually you should already have all the client files downloaded.

We’ve updated the launcher (this test will require setting your launcher to beta version) with the requisite enabling flags, and will open the server up tomorrow a few hours before the test.

2m Test server SP. Whoopdeedoo. Can’t be bothered for that. If it was just 100k tranq SP. I definitely would have.

It’s working!

Sorry for non english task manager but everyone see needed numbers anyway.

Is it possible to use the 64-bit client to connect to Tranquility?

Not at the moment. You can login only via launcher and launcher cant start x64 client yet.

So have to re-install 32-bit client after test then.

No. It don’t overwrite anything. It just add 64-bit client .exe. And as far I understand launcher will decide what type of client to start.
