[announcement] YC 120 New Eden Capsuleer's Writing Contest

In light of the successful contest the last four years I am pleased to announce the fifth (?!?! - God time flies) )year for a writing contest for stories or poems by Capsuleers .

BASIC DETAILS

There will be three categories:

1. Poetry
2. Prose
3. Academic/News (e.g. Academic, News Reporting, Economic Reports, Science Reports, Theological Writings, Treatises, etc.)

There will be a total of at least seven judges, who will judge ALL categories:

Charles Cambridge Schmidt
Literia
Silver Night
Tressith Sefira
Kador Ouryon
Mizhir
Telegram Sam
Loai Qerl

There is no minimum length. Maximum length is 30,000 words. There is no required subject matter; the content may be fiction or non-fiction. All entries will be considered. Submissions are to be made by posting on Eve Forums - Eve Fiction or on http://backstage.eve-inspiracy.com . Your post should specifically reference at the outset that it is being submitted for consideration in the YC 120 New Eden Capsuleer’s Writing Contest. If you have a good reason why you want to make a private submission, then contact me privately as to why.

DEADLINE for submissions is MAY 30TH of this year.

AWARD GALA:

To allow for completion, and the preparation for the function, the New Eden Capsuleer’s Writing Contest Award Gala this year will be on Sunday, July 29th at 19:00. Location is “L’Amore in Ballo” run by ARC’s Lasairiona Raske Thank you Miss Raske for agreeing to host the Gala this year!

PRIZES:

Prize Pool - 14.25 Billion ISK So Far (2 billion for a special prize)!

PRIZES - (for each category and subject to update if pool grows))
FIRST PLACE - 2.5 billion isk
SECOND PLACE -1 billion isk
THIRD PLACE - 500 million isk
FOURTH PLACE - 100 million isk
Honorable Mentions - 50 million isk

SPECIAL PRIZES:

To encourage research and science, a special donation of 2 billion ISK has been donated by the Arataka Research Consortium which will be awarded to the winner of the Academic Category in addition to the standard prize.

Additionally, each of the Judges may, in their discretion, award a personal prize to the favorite (regardless of the “place” of the submission)

The most “amusing” or “entertaining” to me* orintriguing gets treated to a candlelit dinner by me at a fine restaurant… and 800 million isk.

ADDITIONAL RULES/COMMENTS

All judges and I (as administrator) are disqualified from submission.

All entries will be considered.

if the quality of the entries does not merit the number of prizes, then prizes will be given up to the number deemed meritorious.

((OOC NOTE FOR ISD - This is specifically an In Character/Roleplay thing - a writing contest to be done by “characters”, not the players. The expectation is the submissions, whether poetry, prose or academic ’ would be in character or related to the character of to the capsuleer submitting it and people will have rp as part of the process. I also invite comments on the IGS related to this post in a RP vein or other RP in channels! Judging is also on an In character basis. As a man of science I can only thanks you and ARC for your consideration of science of an important topic!
That said I would have liked to know if it will be possible to submit multiple entries?
I’m going to publish one of my scientific essay but I indulge myself in other types of writing. Can i make multiple entries?
If yes, can I win multiple prizes?

Yes to both, but experience has shown multiple entries can sometimes result in judge “fatigue” with an entrant so I suggest no more than 2 per category!

So, without having yet made up my mind on whether I would post an entry or not, but for the sake of argument lets say I did…and I still wanted to contribute as sponsor still, thus I would waive of any right to any possible reward…what would be the response to that?
