Chaos Era Continues - Cyno Update

So after thinking objectively about the cyno changes I think CCP is way late in this change (or similar).

Cyno’s are meant to move the largest and most dangerous ships in New Eden. To project force and capabilities.

THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ALLOWED ON T1 SHIPS.
The risk/reward graph makes no sense if, to use a crappy RL example, and kindergartener can summon an entire tank division for a school yard conflict. A kindergarten can call in an older sibling or playground monitor and project force. (strained analogy i know)

Cynos should have always been reserved for specialized ships.

Also, the only difference is you now need to join a corp that offers T2 cyno capability. If there is a void someone in new eden will fill that need.

Yes please for a cermonial cyno as this change would make Brave’s John Belicose annual rememberance day less moving.

Are cov ops kills on cyno ships really an improvement in content? They still aren’t going anywhere, they still aren’t really a hull that’s fighting back.

The only challenge increase is that you don’t have the cyno beacon on the overview and you’ve got a smaller window in which to kill it. I’m unconvinced by that particular set of thinking. KM value is not the same as content value.

why not just add a charge up. cyno inhibs take a minute, just make the cyno charge up the same. Then give a ship bonus to reduce that on a select group of hulls and off course the covert cyno. Subs 10-30s charge, caps and up stay at the 1 minute

Rorqs/capitals will have to light before an inhib gets dropped, haulers just have to wait a little longer but otherwise fine. maybe do ad the covert cyno for JF. big fleets will have to protect the cyno or bring a ship with a reduction bonus.

I dislike this change. Instead of this why not upgrade the mobile cyno inhibitor. Make it more like a bubble or mobile depot where you can anchor and unanchor to reuse it. Make it last longer in space. Those things are pretty expensive and utterly useless but you could make them useful in combat and not have to nerf the cyno at all.

@Algathas Terrible Idea. Just say no to permanent cyno anchor chains.

I am not sure CCP has thought this thru.
yes it will stop Capitals from being used as a rescue platform.
it will also stop logistics from going to or from null sec, that in return will stop combat as there is no replacements coming, and 2 stop ratting and mining as there is no where to sell goods.

Covert ships are already WAY op now that the blackout is here, there is literally NO WAY to detect them. which further reduces mining and ratting.

Very soon Null sec will be an empty waste. CCP clams they wanted more content, but these changes only reduce content.

So why doesn’t CCP just come out and say what they really want.

  1. More CASH - make it so you have to spend Real cash on isk
  2. Get rid of ALL Caps and Super Caps.
  3. Disband ALL large empires.

I am a 2 account player, one for combat (pve, pvp) and one for mining/ manuf. (To make isk for Combat account. these changes just really hurt my ability to make any form of isk.
I am not like those large players who have billions of isk, I avg about 500mil or less.
So these changes have made me sit in the stations in null and HS (Can’t afford to lose a ship) doing project discovery all day.

please fix this for the NON elite players

BTW - Time to add more project discovery challenges, these are getting old

I think cyno’s have been abused for years in that any noob ship can fit one and that any hull can fit one. In my view the following ships should be able to fit:

Conventional cynos:

Titans & Supers - They are support and command ships
Command Ships - Same as above reason
Combat & Force Recons
Black Ops

The following should be able to fit Covert Cynos:

Force Recons
Black Ops
Covert Ops
T3 Cruisers in Covert configuration

Whilst CCP have a bump mechanic in that a titan or super could jump onto a cyno and bump many KM away from fleet; it should have the ability to call for support to be cyno’d to it. Remove the bump mechanic and my view point may change. I am sure all pilots can appreciate that loosing a super/titan to a bad bump is not the best mechanic in game.

Remove stealth bombers from that list since they are a DPS ship and not a recon ship. Replace with regular covert ops.

Fantastic!

if this change really goes live:
No more 0 isk risk exit strategies and ultimate capital babysitting.
Earlier, if you find a single rorqual as a small-gang sized pvp group, you said: “Impossible. Rorq will light a cyno and the only thing comes throught are capitals and more capitals. Not worth a try.”, the only alternatives were to switch into pve mode and try to steal his excavators.
With this patch it will become worth a try, because you at least get a kill worth more than 250 Million Isk. And maybe, only maybe, the rorqual really is solo…and dies. (same goes for any other capital)

I am really looking forward to see this idea going live!

p.s. cyno inhibs become playable…finally!

You do realise rorqs will just have a cloaked arazu with 100k EHP sitting 150k off right? You are still going to fail miserably, unless the target is in some small group that can’t escalate.

If your alliance is organizing enough titans to cause that but can’t organize a recon to warp to that titan and light a cyno…

All my cynos already can fly covert and use the covert cyno anyway. So from a logistic standpoint this is a net upgrade although it just causes you to use a more expensive ship. So just a higher cost of doing business although now it opens up the possibilities for using deep safes or off grid structures/covert cyno to more secretly move jump freighters.

No, what is truly terrible is limiting cynos 1’s to a tiny group of ships because lets face it no-one is going to put a cyno 1 on a blops.

Agreed. Post edited.

LOL, no.

Transport will still work just fine.

Prices might go up a little. That’s it.

Large empires are the least affected by any of the changes they’ve made. If that’s the goal, they’re doing it wrong.

I have zero hope to see some senses back to CCP, still… let’s try some arguments for the record :

This September we are planning two large changes for Cynosural Fields:

  • Cynosural Field Generator I can only be fit by Force Recon Ships and Black Ops Battleships (note: these classes can still fit covert cynos)
  • Jump Freighters can jump to Covert Cynosural Fields

So it means that Cynosural Field Generator I modules would be used by only TWO classes of ships, compared to the EIGHT for the Covert one (excluded special reward ships). It doesn’t make any sense.

Maybe it will make it a few harder to move capital ships for large coalitions, but they can afford to lose some Force Recon ships anyway. It will just make mining operations a few more costly because a player with a Force Recon ship will be required to activate the Capital Hammer. And so… so what ? Did you really hope that it will help the hunters ?

It will just make solo/small gang mining difficult, nothing more.

In the contrary, small organizations will suffer from this because it will be hard to adapt to said changes, as it will be more costly to move stuff and they won’t be able to mine with very small staff.

The only thing that will be really hurted is the logistic part. And even here, it won’t give any challenge to veteran players/coalition-size organisation because one of the possible workaround to cover the increased cost of logistics that you will create is to use Titan bridges. Moving more stuff per cyno using standard Freighters will maintain the ISK cost per cubic meter ratio at a minimum even after losing the Force Recon used to open the door. And they can afford to lose some bombers/covert ops.

In the inverted way, the small alliances/corps won’t be able to afford it and will have to accept to lose multiple bombers/covert ops at minimum, increasing the cost of their supply chain.

Again, a nerf for the sake of hurting coalitions… who will just make coalitions stronger.

As usual from CCP. Act first, think later.

This bit doesn’t make much sense @CCP_Rise

I look forward to the cyno change.
CCP is committed to making EVE better.

I agree the idea of restricting ship types that can lit cyno, but only allowing recon and black ops is not a good idea. It will definitely dis encourage move op by small entities.
