I think I’m starting to understand why high sec ganking is part of the profit model. A new player who can’t afford to re-plex them self when you blow up their ship is just not an amazingly profitable customer overall.

The ones who can and will replex when you gank them, do re plex. Meaning that each hi sec gank is a new plex purchase! CCP execs probably grin excitedly when they look in on Uedama.

That’s why hi sec ganking won’t go away, or get nerfed.

They nerf everything else. I always thought it was odd they never seemed to get around to nerfing that…

Definitely agree. Whenever I fly around in high sec, nearly every every system I enter has 10 or 12 people on local. The whole time I’m thinking any one of them might approach me and scram me or something.

In null and lowsec you can go places with empty locals.

For this to be true, ganking has to destroy a significant amount of ISK for it to result in significant amounts of plex sales which are immediately liquidated in the market. People who make anti-ganking arguments have repeatedly said that ganking doesn’t destroy enough ISK to be important in the universe. Their reasoning is that ganking disproportionately affects new players (and therefore retention) and new players are poorer than everyone else so their meagre ISK losses are devastating, but still meagre ISK destroyed. The conclusion of the argument is that it’s no big deal (ISK-destruction-wise) to get rid of ganking for a ton of alleged newbie-retention benefits. One anti-ganking person is notably hardcore in this thought: should someone disagree with this logic at all, then that person is a pro-granker “basement dwelling” “incel” (their words not mine, I haven’t forgotten).

So, if you are against ganking: sorry, but your line of reasoning undermines other anti-gankers’ arguments.

I’m not against it. I just wish there was more counter play. Those ganked often want revenge but have no way of seeking it.

Kill rights apply to specific players, but should apply to everyone they’re in fleet with, and everyone in their corp if it’s a player corp. That would make things more interesting.

Untapped desire is untapped profit. Providing a means of achieving something a party or individual wants, and then putting a price tag on it, is “Business 101”. Hi sec ganking is clearly a profit stream, but CCP is letting a lot of salt go to waste.

They’re arming only one side of a conflict when they could be arming both sides for twice the profit, and then cynically watching/helping them destroy each other.

Winnie here with the Hek Mining Association. For the last two years I have been running what is arguably the most successful public mining fleet in the EUTZ. Our secret… ganking.

Here’s the thing, ganking is not some magical god mode activity with guaranteed success. This is a situation where Aiko’s success is her downfall. Ganking isn’t easy. She just makes it look easy. If you don’t believe her or me, just try it yourself.

Come down to Hek and try killing one of our ships. I’ll even give you a fitted Catalyst to do it in. Ganking is an easily countered activity. It just requires you to be, well, playing the game.

How can you counter this?

We need something like an assault damage contril trat can only be fitted to ships in highsec and activated by ships that have no suspect or criminal timer and gives you 100% invulnerability or at least 99% for 15 or 20 seconds. This way only non-afk players that truly play the game may use it.

Has been explained a thousand times. Watch local & dscan, set known groups red, avoid systems with a lot of traffic that attract gankers, use a fit that helps to get away quickly or make the gank very costly, even if that costs some efficiency.

Also, if you already know what they will bring, just bait them.

I want to play a game and relax. Not stress myself out into growing grey hair. EVE is a game. That seems to be forgotten by some people.

Than relax. And from time to time, replace your ship. Whatever yo do, there are cheap fits for it that return their own value in less than a day and somewhere in godforsaken minmatar highsec systems you will only get ganked once every 3 months if you are compeltely afk. Won’t even impact your income noticably.

In hs, I got away with just keeping an eye on local. But I prefer wh’s. A level playing field.

Use the tools that are already available, especially the one between your ears, never go afk.

Take advantage of the gate cloak mechanic, unfuck your overview and never go afk.

Know who your enemy is, use the standings mechanic to set them to “scum” and keep on eye on local, never go afk.

Bookmarks are your friend, learn how to use them, never go afk.

Using autopilot WILL get you killed, never go afk.

@MB_ThePhotographer local is scary when you first leave a WH, especially one that you’ve been farming outside of the inhabitant’s TZ. Spelunking is fun.

Here is a picture of some pretty relaxed dudes, leaving billions over billions in ships afk on the grid. In highsec. For hours and hours. In a 0.5sec system.

Don’t believe any lies about how dangerous HighSec is. As long as this can happen, it’s still way too safe.

Local is a tool to catch tools who don’t pay attn. Or avoid the many gankers out there.

Short story as to how I got that wh.

Moved into a wh I liked for pi. Already occupied. Made a deal. Kept my cloaked orca outta their sta with most of my stuff in it. When the ■■■■ hit the fan when a corp actually came back to finish it off, I offered to fight the sta since I have the skills for it. Fail. After it was over, I set up my sta and took over. Held it for 2 yrs and moved out on my own terms.

Try it sometime.

A friend and I held a C3 for just over a year, I was a 3 month old player at the time. I learnt more about the game during that time than many have managed to learn in years. We sold it to one of our alliance members for what was a goodly sum of isk at the time.

Died a few times, made some friends, made some enemies and made an absolute shedload of isk.

Good times.

I still dive into the odd one here and there, cloak up to figure out who’s there, when and if they’re active and farm some sites if there’s no one around; the risk of getting caught is a bit of a rush considering my normal playstyle.
