Eve isn't dying, but it isn't growing. My answer that devs won't recognize

It works and is true, but is that kind of passive response “fun”?

Would it be more fun to blame yourself, learn, and passively, meekly, accept your fate, or be allowed to kill every member of that corp that you see out of dock for a few days?

Concord can’t get serious revenge, or people would get stranded in Hi Sec unable to leave the station. But that doesn’t mean players couldn’t be allowed to do it.

Breaking the rules of Hi Sec should mean Hi Sec doesn’t protect you for several days, and it should be applicable to whole player corps. Then those who want to PVP in Hi Sec can PVP, but they don’t get to enjoy the benefits of Hi Sec.

It’s dumb that the rules of Hi Sec keeps corporations that gank, mostly safe from being ganked.

This notion shouldn’t be anything new. It’s already how blue donut Null Sec works.

Thats not a passive response, it’s an active decision to

  • bring support to even the odds in any engagement
  • evade attention of superior opponents
  • catch up in knowledge to players far more experienced than yourself

No one needs to accept any fate, because there is no fate. If you are ganked that is the result of your own wrong decisions. Embrace the loss as offer to learn and become better at the game you are playing until, some day, you can play with the gankers and make them fail in any attempt to catch you.

For those people who are ganked, no single “option for revenge” would work anyway, because these players usually simply lack most personal combat skills and the members of the ganker’s corp will outsmart and outgun them anyway.

What exactly enables them to gank you but prevents you from ganking them?

I’m pretty sure miners are supposed to avoid gankers.

If you want to PvP the gankers, then stop mining!

Feel the need to point out that if you are killed in-game, you just respawn. Players don’t even need to buy a new clone and worry about losing skill points like they used to. There is no deep dark fate that players suffer if they are ganked in high sec.

Also, if a player who was ganked wanted to gank all the gankers nothing is stopping them from doing that (except maybe the counterplay of the other players).

As far as blaming yourself and learning passively, well if one went into a dangerous situation unaware of the danger, then the most pragmatic thing to is learn from the experience and fly smarter next time. That may be more productive than falling into a rage and trying to gank everyone in the corp of the ganker that ganked you.

This revenge fantasy of shooting everyone in a corp that shot you seems just a little dark and over the top doesn’t it? Not that one should not or could not pursue it in reaction to being shot in game, but having your ship blown up in a game that revolves around blowing up people’s spaceships should not create some deep psychological trauma.

If you want to hunt the hunters and gank the gankers though, it could be fun. And it sounds like fun content for people on both sides.

You mean like eve echos?

Is there corp/alliance secuity status? If not there should be. Would be amazing to see. Entire alliances instant killed by concord the minute they enter high sec for flying the colors of known criminal/terrorist organizations.

They’re pirates and there is a timer for the faction police to take action.

There might be a corp ruling to boot negative status pilots, research might be needed to sort out such Corp.

I appear to have missed the memo. Speaking of which, although it hasn’t been officially announced, we will be running our mining fleet out of Uedama again on April 1st. Pretty please come and shoot at us this time.

This is the tired old “FirestormCarnage” argument; bin hisec pvp and tada! Game fixed.

The primary problem I have with this “solution” is that it fails to address the reason this “solution” apparently wasn’t needed in the past. Either 2003-2012 players had greater fortitude, OR this isn’t the magic bullet it’s presented as. Firestorm likes to present the former as the case which, to be honest, strikes me as a mixture of egotistic and condescending. He frequently refers to “modern gamers” as being “incompatible” with the “HTFU” of EVE… which really, in the era of gamers who grew up on Dark Souls, I think is just a failure to read the room.

Now this last part is just my take on it, but personally I believe what EVE really needs is for CCP to hire more devs who can put the manpower into actually taking the game in a meaningful direction. It seems Hilmar agrees with this since that’s precisely what they’ve been doing lately, just judging by the current state of things with the return of the expansion, the return of lore-based content, and several new ships.

In summary, I think you’ll get your wish for a rejuvenated EVE, but I don’t think it will come from the devs listening to you or Firestorm.

Key.

My advise would be to publish brief audio files of individual new Eden Lore news items. An effect rich micro-drama. They already have a voice acting agency on-line obviously and very talanted audio technicians.

Branded Egonic’s audible-event-bytes would be a light publication band-width wise in comparison to a the videos they produce.

EVE isn’t dying, it’s future is sound.

Clever.
@Cade_The_Elder welcome to the forums. You appear to be very good at this.

Praise James 315! He will return one day!

The word is out on this game, its platform mismanagement, the wasted millions on projects that flopped and the continued abuse of the paying player base. This cash cow is down on the ground and the last parasites are just waiting for access to the bone marrow. The original programmers were sent packing and the game was ignored by management. If the game is so good and free now why aren’t there a hundred thousand new players just pounding the rust off of Jitas Doors. Why, the game has the reputation of being caustic to new players and abusive in its use of the META of the game to eliminate high sec players from the ice fields and veldspar fields through out the game. The Management of the Platform has wasted valuable time and money and ignored basis issues of the game like the effects of a ships mass etc. This lack luster performance can all be laid at the feet of CCP and its inability to perform. New Players research games and know that this game is not worth the time nor money it requires. Other gaming platforms monitor this general discussion and know that once this game is gone the malignant cancer that has helped CCP destroy its own product will descend upon their platforms. To put it short, that META cancer will not be welcome on other platforms that value their customers and their profit margin. This cash cow is dead, just not dust yet.

I find it difficult to find fault with your reasoning. For my part the tl;dr is the butthurt 15k registering their displeasure with something they in the same breath claim doesn`t pique their interest (the stagnant, SOP responses.)

AI synthesises the grammar of its source material.

Numbers “seem” to be going up somewhat.

I think CCP can survive off the whales and low numbers.

You don’t care? Well I certainly don’t care about you either. Find something else to play where you are all that matters…

Then you are playing the wrong game. You are not supposed to feel safe and snuggly on undocking. There are no special safe zones…not even highsec…and there never have been.

Anyone who gets grey hairs over losing £1 worth of Procurer is also playing the wrong game.

I’ve risked my 520m ISK Apocalypse practically every day of the past week. I may well lose it later today. Que sera sera. Don’t undock what you can’t afford to lose. It really is as simple as that.

Dude I invested treasure and time in this game from 2006 to just last year when CCP lied to us about new ■■■■ to come. I love this game. But I can not continue to play it as is now is. So What, Nothing, Every one Verses Everyone EVE. Stop crying and look at the real problems and the real culprits that caused them. Or you can just shut up , get in line and follow the leader.
