Exactly . Capital ships are end game content. Bs are not. Who the hell had this idea
You canāt enjoy the game with a smaller ship??
Yes, please beg me to stay
Online gaming addiction
Depression
Other mental health reasons
Immaturity
Alcohol
Drugs
Other substance abuse
Investing a lot of money and feeling cheated - ie āwhaleā
In game bullying
Overall game frustration
Any combo of the aboveā¦
EvE takes a lot of time to learn properly, some have the patience and some do not. It is very easy to become emotionally invested in EvE online. I was very addicted to EvE at one point and was sad to walk away, but the game was no longer for me. It is a shame that there is not more help for online gaming addiction, whether it is through CCP itself or somehow through the EvE community.
When I left EvE after 11 years and stopped paying for my 75 accounts I didnāt make a rant post. Instead I drained my toilet bowl and painted EvE Online around the inside bottom of the bowl, so that every time I flushā¦
Wowā¦
First of all, I canāt believe I read this entire threadā¦
Secondly, I canāt believe CSM member Mike even posted itā¦
Thirdly, I canāt believe ISD hasnāt locked or at the very least, moved this thread to OOPE sub-forumā¦
Actually after thinking about it, I believe the reason this thread is still active and hasnāt been moved by ISD is because it was posted by a CSM memberā¦

I havenāt come back. I just post because I totally can. This game will never be popular like that because of the stance CCP takes on it and the players. Just because you can do anything doesnāt mean you should. I mean, you can do anything in life and 99% of people donāt. Eve is a game where you donāt have to pvp, but people say thatās the point of eve and others call any other perception a misconception lmao. In a game whose pve, which is necessary for pvp, is one of the longest grinds ever. The misconception comes from the gameās design because originally, it probably was supposed to be more than just about the pvp. New blood have no idea and just ride on pretense.
Man I wish this was true
Fair point.
Think of it as a Casinoā¦ There are nickle swallowers, tables, bonuses, special prizesā¦ and so onā¦ Until you reach some fancy door that weighs your pocket just to let in.
Some peeps just canāt get enough. For me, I have never Capitol. I consider it a burden.
I like tacticals, intel, guerilla warfare, etcā¦ I just move around. And my goals orbit around losing 2 hulls/month tops while contributing to as many losses as possible.
Itās quite a challenge because I donāt use cloaky ships. It was cool and joyful. Then, someone opts to spoil the new kids with easy paths that have been exploited by experienced players either for In Game wealth or hinder troll gamingā¦ etc.
In time, it grew out of control and now, even Patrick and SpongeBob wannabes multiplied way over true newbies.
That flux of āeasynessā exploits became too popular and kept growing to a point that yes, they f**kd all up in both directions of the food chain.
One part shows that encounters between ānoobsā were just a sparring kid against Mr. Troll.
The other revealed a wealth growth that caved on to outrageous spending and all the consequences that affected us all up the food chain.
No one seemed to notice this and even when we-the-people raised all flags possible, no one cared or at least it never showed In Game.
I remember when seeing a Capitol was such amazing thingā¦ now a Titon isā¦ bleh! whatever.
The wealth was so out of handā¦ that it was thought that structures and their defense mechanics might be what was supposed to become the ISK drains EVE so much needed.
That fix, that specific oneā¦ was an other phuckd up bad moveā¦ It could have worked wonderfully if only the influx was limitedā¦ one cannot deliver itās goal without the other. If you open the drain, you unavoidably must close the spigot.
There was no fix and even today, they seem so disconnected, so far apartā¦ these two worlds that keep making the game worse for those with anything worth defending.
I agree! totally and absolutely. One should be able to enjoy playing for nickles & dimes as well as āfortunesā.
But before that, one could widen the scope and see that the proliferation of āeasynessā is inverse proportional with both true and personal valuation. A Capitol is hardly a portion in value (understood as effort to achieve, not market val.) today, as it was 10 Yrs ago In Gameā¦ is it still the same in personal valuation? The answer is: It depends but the overall tendency is NO.
So, one could assume that due to featuring for the new, playing with nickles back then, is like throwing Capitols down the rabbit hole nowdays.
I can understand why theyāre leaving. In Eve the developers have a vision of where they want to take the game. And, thatās āallā that matters. Their view. Their goals. People like me donāt even exist.
And, thatās the single biggest, and worst, change thatās affected this game since itās debut in 2006. Eve is now a top-driven title where CCP has a huge, overbearing influence on New-Eden. I assume most are leaving because the sandbox vision of what Eve was supposed to be is long gone and theyāre done.
The game really isnāt as ādeadā as you people pretend.
ok, so for example why did you introduced that skill window? Im not even asking about anything else, just an example from very last changes.
Yeah, gotta say I agree 100%. Thread definitely would have been locked if anybody else had posted it.
lol, good oneā¦
Heheā¦ You and Iā¦ weāve walked this path beforeā¦ weāve been in the forums for some time nowā¦ I see other names hereā¦ peeps weāve known for some timeā¦ but I donāt see dead people or an agonizing game. No way!
This game is so good, I always thought and still believe, doesnāt take too much effort to sale.
To this day, EVE has no equal. But there are ābetterā alternatives. Letās just say, alternatives that are more in consonance with todayās gamersā average attention spam. EVE is far from such.
EVE is a classic game with a classic business model pushed to a contemporary way.
The formula to update In Game mechanics to cope with such model is what sometimes doesnāt work. We see it in pretty much every single recent feature when we recognize all the effort in implementation of useless, divisive and/or obstructing elements could be more productive businesswise if applied in other segments with other goals in mind. Goals that can be equally lucrativeā¦ perhaps more.
Count me out from the people that pretend this game is dead (j/k) On the contrary, I think EVE is one of the offers out there that best motivates a sense of belonging which in my opinion, can never come from new players but from old farts simply because that sense of belonging comes greatly from the effort to simply play it. Taking that away is counter intuitive against seeding that sense of property, asking why it hurts to lose and shout it loud is absurd for anyone that has ever constructed something worth defending within the game.
Giving new players all possible chances to climb the ladder quickly and easily is ridiculous! not in itselfā¦ I mean, you can do that in so many other offers out there, in so many other ways within EVEā¦ but you cannot convert EVE into that lively. It requires a bit more looking into.
Who knowsā¦ perhaps it is too hard to codeā¦ But when you keep on thinking that there is someone in charge with a plan and see what has happened recently (2yrs on), it deflates your naive optimism leading to believe there is no plan but a punchbag grinding, a recurrent test of a players base ability to sustain punishment.
That sentiment cannot come from new players, they just donāt knowā¦ think of a game like a surprise party: you enter in a dark room to be amazed, you had no clue whatās there.
The feedback the dev team is getting is speculative when they dedicate any effort to pave a noobland paradise based on void assumptions regarding what-newbies-want, they are wasting precious resources that can and should be put to better use towards what they have coexisting with whatās incoming. Let us make them newbies fall in love with it.
Are EVE Omega Subscriptions Up or Down??? If it is up! Then clearly EVE is making the right call. It can live without me.
Did you say 75 accounts?!?
The number of subscriptions isnāt a measurement of how good the game is, just as how many fans and views Justin Bieber has isnāt a measurement of the quality of his music.
If all omega players would get a āboard officer fitted titanā button you would see a massive increase of subs, it would also be terrible for the game.
Dont you think there is something really wrong, when so many people are complaining about so many things, People only complain when there are being forced to leave something they actually like. I like eve but i think CCP has lied through there teeth for the last 18 years. and no. The players are not the evils in this game at all, the evils as you put it , is the way the whole sandbox rules change at a whim. CCP has no idea what eve is, they created the original code, but after that they dont know ā ā ā ā . And Mike Azariah you are a csm, isnt your job to fix the problems between the players and CCP , (A basic Impossibility as i know a lot of CSM members that say CCP dont listen or give a damn)
Maybe there was a way to make that right call so to speak you refer to but yet at the same time keep you and I as players and the game does even better.
Iām active on other online communities with Eve followings - some of them quite sizeable - and there are so many people who they could have retained as a player fairly easily but didnāt but then maybe the extra just isnāt worth the bother for CCP vs those more easily pleased.
Kind of, yes. And I do work at it. But that is not what this thread is about, never was. It was asking why people feel the need to have a tantrum on the way out the door.
I do try to represent players although that (at the best of times) is a balance of opposites. Complaints come from both sides on a lot of issues and so I firmly believe that there is not a common ground just the middle of the battlefield and take fire from both sides.
