We’re still catching up, but as we get more time, we will be able to set up a single event that has simple and quick with low rewards, and interesting challenges with high rewards. That doesn’t mean everyone will have something to do, but it would start to cover more of the community.
Although I wouldn’t really consider this that interesting of a challenge. We can do better still.
Yes.
I try to but don’t always follow that 100%. Generally speaking the higher risk, the higher reward. This doesn’t necessarily mean a different reward, sometimes it’s just more of the good stuff.
Thanks. Why do you like it?
Technically the Low and High sec versions use the same everything, except for the boss and the size of the groups that can show up during phase 1. The bounty on NPCs was particularly difficult because the guardians can potentially respawn forever. After removing bounty from them, obviously the site was no longer providing enough bounty, so I upped the boss bounty a bit and put loot on the non-bosses.
Yes and no. With the level of abuse I have seen devs endure on their own forums (not just here), I tend to believe devs should not be on the forums at all. If it were the norm to have civil and constructive conversations, then I would agree, decent devs should be on the forums and engaged with their community.
However, two notes on this:
- Most of the conversations I’ve had here have been constructive, not always civil, but close enough.
- I always overestimate how thick skinned I believe I am, so I keep coming back.
- A third note on this: I don’t need people to agree with me and I prefer when we don’t have echo chambers. Criticism is good, as long as it is constructive.
Is that 4 notes? Oh heck, we’re having a good discussion here so far. Let’s talk more about the Gala.
One of the other devs ran into a similar issue as well. The problem for him was he didn’t have the boss on his overview so he never noticed it show up. Just verify you have all the Irregular NPC groups visible in your overview settings and if you never see a boss show up, that could be a bug and you should report it.
Sounds similar to above. If you see them in space but not on the overview, right click on them and look for the “Add blah group to the overview” which should be at the bottom of the menu. Once you’ve set it, it should not happen again in future events as we’ll be reusing a lot of these groups until we fix the way this tracks kills.
The way we track kills is a little silly but I understand why it was set this way. We have a cool solution that is easy-ish to implement but that’s kinda separate from not seeing them on the overview. Then we shouldn’t have to worry about groups anymore.
It’s not impossible, it’s just something that nobody has been willing to take on.
Personally, I believe overview should be saved on our servers so you don’t have to make a new one (or import) every time you install on a new computer.
Not concerning the warping. Most changes we’re making is just to the behavior (thankfully not code, just content authoring) but we haven’t changed this yet. We will probably make changes for the next event, but leave the warping in this time around. Depends on the number of reports we get about this and how pissed they’ll be if we ask for another deployment.
It’s like I’m learning.
No modifications have been made to the loot tables post-release.
Creative usage of in-game mechanics.
Known issue. It’s on Art to fix it up but they’ve been super busy with… uh… stuff.
