That’s the paradox. If the current availability of moon belts is creating competition and interaction, then surely it is working as intended? If the current owners of mining athanors are now starting to go off-line, in order to avoid that competition, then it is not?
Surely it is up to the owners to now argue how creating flags for moon mining, and maybe decreasing competition, would actually increase interaction to the net benefit of overall gameplay ?!
I never said I was hard core or any form of elite-pvper. I was using what I figure is logic and some form of common sense. Okay lets look at it this way then you want exclusive rights to the belt that comes from a moon in “EMPIRE” space fine, let’s create an isk sink, a recurring tax on the corp that owns the station on the moon say 25% of the market value of the extraction and you get your suspect flag.
If you want to come back with a figure that shows any understanding of industry margins sure.
I’m surprised CCP removed the need for charters to run a structure in high sec and certainly feel they could bring charters back to provide that “tax” element.
Not just any space, High Sec space. NOT being able to shoot how you want is a double edged sword. If they really want that option, as in it’s REALLY important to them, they need to head to LS.
People don’t go roaming to every moon looking for suspect people, lets be serious about how people actually react to suspects.
There also is no limited engagement vs a whole corp, nor can a LE be single sided. Which means it would allow you to turn up, mine ore and then you would get shooting rights on the owning corp, which is silly.
The suspect corp is an existing mechanic that then creates an LE when they engage.
We’ve had limited engagement timers that work corp wide before (aggro) and the only reason they were removed was because they became complicated during 3rd party interference.
This however is different. A limited engagement to the corp, but now you go criminal for interference thanks to recent changes. No more convoluted flagging system.
This would be so awesome in fact that the limited engagement would only apply to the corp/alliance owning the structure. All the wardec-shy out-of-corp alts wouldn’t be able to do anything.
Actually that’s not half bad…but the trolling would be epic.
I would suggest adding a “switch” for the owner of the field where they can elect to turn it on or not. Of the “defender” sees that they are being trolled then they can elect to not flip the switch.
This is a pretty good compromise though…I still think “too bad you’re in HS” but I can see the other side…
So I can anchor an athanor and fire up a drill, advertise “Free Mining to Everyone” and at some point I see juicy-fruit I can “flip the switch” and go hunting…
Hmmm,
ducks–check
barrel–check
shotgun–check.
Ok, so where does this fit on the safety switch? Do we now have 4 levels of safety flag?
It is a convoluted system which CCP deliberately got rid of, they wanted clear state flags, that didn’t create awkward chains of “You can shoot X, but X can shoot Y, and Y can shoot Z” etc.
Suspect is simple, it doesn’t kill content, it kills brainless baiting. Can flipping didn’t die because of suspect, it died because miners stopped can mining. You know, they actually learnt and used options which mined less but didn’t need jet cans.
And note, I’m also saying this should apply to out of corp/alliance friends of the owner. So either you take suspect or you take war dec risk. No more hiding your miners in an NPC corp and moon mining with this.
Some may have forgotten, that the reason for Upwells no longer can shoot suspects or anything else is because early on…
Ppl would bait others into combat near a structure they could take control of…get a LET then dock up and engage target which could not shoot back at structure because the pilot and corp owner were not the same.
None of which is really relevant to this?
Other than the fact that the structure won’t be able to shoot miners, which is fine.
Because we are talking about ships in space shooting other ships in space.
