The worst part is when you have to admit Derek Smart, of all people, was right. 
The uber fans will deny everything, it just does not fit into their view of things. I am happy that i did not invest in thisā¦

Thatās easy, I bought into itā¦but itās so fancy now that I canāt play it because my machine so I am left with Eve, I can play ED and it has pretty good required graphics but jeez SC is too fancy.
Bugger Star Citizen, as soon as Forza horizon 4 drops, iām kicking my son off the basement driving sim. Looks Gr8 and I have already upgraded the cpu graphics card in anticipation.

Been gone from the EvE forum for about 5+ years and I come back and a Star Citizen thread is still on the front page of OOPE. At least it is a satirical post.

SC is certainly a curiosity and everyone is wondering how itās going to turn out. Is it the new wonder-child, that keeps on growing and growing until itās going to make us all proud, or is it cancer? ā¦
Nope. Never in the course of human endeavors has anything with a history like SC ever turned out to NOT end up a piece of ā ā ā ā .

SC, when all is said and done, is gonna make Duke Nukem Forever and Half-Life 3 (or Half-Life 2 Episode 3, whichever ends up happeningā¦ one dayā¢) look like raging successes with no controversy whatsoever by comparison.

You set the bar not exactly high it seems. 
I loved Wing Commander 2 and 3 back in the day and Iām all for more space games. I have Elite: Dangerous though I donāt play it anywhere nearly as much as I play EVE.
I justā¦ well, Iāll believe the hype when the final game is out. I, for one, am tired of games being in alpha or beta for years and years and years. I miss the days back when a small group of people played a beta or alpha and most people missed out on most of the bugs, the growing pains, and the long struggle of game development was hidden from us.
Now that EVE is being taken over by a company that makes an EXTREME pay to win game, Black Desert Online, Eve will soon be P2W too I suspect, sort of like Star Citizen, hope Iām wrongā¦but probably right

It only looks better for SC, as some players will want to try it, maybe some will get hooked on it too. Especially when it is fleshed out more and more.

There is always hope. Just unfortunately too often not enough of it. SC has at minimum 2 years of development left. It has been confirmed that it will not be out in 2019 and that the stuff that is currently being worked on is not going to be ready until 2020. They might squeak it by the 2020 X-Mas holiday season, if not 2021, maybe 2022.
Then of course, you need to hope that CR doesnāt pull a stunt like he did on the last Wing Commander game and bailed on it, cause if he does then SC will not be finished at all and might get cancelled. As painful as that will be for all those devs and their backers and community they established, it is a distinct possibility.
So, while do hope for the best, I prepare for the worst. And personally I am still not a backer because I donāt see certain mechanics or a definitive answer to what they will be like developed yet, therefore I do not know if this game will be for me or not. And unless I know for 100% that the game will at least be of interest to me for a while after launch, I donāt see why I should put any money into it.
Iāll prepare for the worst by pre-ordering Cyberpunk 2077. Much though I love EvE, Iāll love cinematic quality uber enhanced solos more.

did you see that gameplay demo they released ? not the trailer but the gameplay demo ? just hoe-lee-fuk. all I can say is when that hits the market iāll be taking at least a 2 weeks vacation from work and a hell of a lot more then that from Eve.
i think cyberpunk 2077 should just get its own thread right now. seriously, someone go start one.

I sawā¦this could be the first game where thereās no talk of a TV series or film, as they just wouldnāt look as good 
I used to play Cyberpunk 2020, and this is the nearest thing Iāve seen so far to what the imagination conjoured up during play.
I will just wait for the game. As good it looks, It will be somewhat different when released. They have done that with Witcher 3 too, remember? Demo was so good looking, but then game came with graphical downgrade. Played so good that people actually did not pay much attention to the details. I think the same situation will happen with Cyberpunk 2077.
