Little things / Small QoL suggestions

Suggestion: Buttons for max/min industry job runs

Keywords: ui, industry, job runs
Note: Ability to select maximum or minimum job runs from buttons

At the moment you can increase or decrease the number of JOB RUNS by 1 using up and down buttons, but that can take a while. Having “max” and “min” buttons would give nice quick options when you just want to do all of them, or start with nothing to then add just a few.

Stretch goal 1: context sensitive +/- 10, 100, 1000
Stretch goal 2: the same on RUNS PER COPY

Suggestion: Add tooltip to Gear Icon in the launcher to say ‘Settings’ to make ti easier to find.

Keywords: ui, launcher, help newbies.

Examples how this could be done:

I think that name is hilarious and well fitting.

If I ever find the time to mine that amount of rocks in null sec on my miner, which because of an awful design decision to count units instead of volume takes 160 times longer in null sec than in high sec and likely is going to take me forever, I’ll gladly show everyone that my miner indeed needs to ‘calm down’.

Achievements have many issues (like counting ore units instead of volume) but this name isn’t one.

Suggestion: Count mining achievements and mining dailies in volume, not in units

Keywords: mining, achievements, units, volume
Note: Ore volumes per unit have drastic differences. Common high sec ores like Veldspar are 160 times smaller than common null sec ores like Arkanor and Bistot. Yield volumes are standardized across all space, unit volumes are not. Please count volume as a standard instead of units so that miners in all parts of space spend a similar amount of time for dailies and achievements, instead of heavily favouring high sec by making mining dailies and achievements a ridiculous 160 times faster to achieve there than elsewhere.

This change also has the benefit that it gives miners the freedom to mine anything they need instead of pushing miners to mine ores with the smallest units for their achievement.

Suggestion: mute planetary texture in PI (lava and plasma)

Keywords: PI, UI, Extractor, Texture

Note: The planetary texture on lava and plasma planets makes it hard to see where to place the extractors in regards to the material density. It would be nice if the texture of the planet could be “muted” while placing the extractor or in general.

Suggestion: Moving multiple extractors as a group

Keywords: PI, Extractors, QoL

Note: It is very cumbersome to have to move each extractor one by one. Being able to to select multiple and move them as group would be a very welcome QoL change.

Suggestion: Remember tab-order and active tab of stacked windows between sessions

Keywords: UI, QoL, Stacked Windows

Note: If you stack multiple windows, you get a window with what I call tabs. These tabs can be put into a certain order. After each login I have to reorder these tabs and I have to reactivate the tab I want. The game does not remember the tab order and which tab was active between session. This is very annoying behavior. I shudder to think how bad this must be for players with multiple accounts.

Suggestion: Add abiltiy to partially resize parts of windows

Keywords: ui, contracts, resize
Note: Useful buying more than three items

When i am buying stuff off of contracts i can only see three rows of items i am going to receive - if the contract has additional requests from the seller.

Suggestion: Remove dead “buy” SKIN links

Keywords: SKIN, market, dead

Note: Fix can also be solution other than removing the link.

When I want to buy a SKIN from market, the markets page is blank. Repeatable, across many SKINs.

Suggestion: Add a button to allow players to manually load freelance jobs in the opportunities tab instead of doing it automatically.

The current way opportunities is setup is terribly optimized. It causes FPS drops and makes a 5080 heat up when all of the jobs are automatically loaded when opening the menu.

A lot of players just want to do their dailies and are not interested in freelance jobs.

Suggestions for PI improvements

SUGGESTIONS

Having had to just re-set up 48 PI planets I would like to suggest some quality of life improvements that would make the process less tedious.

1: Can we have the ability to drop a marker as to where we would like our template to be placed, So when we do find a good spot, we don’t have to then drag it from the template location to that spot. (currently you cannot initiate a template until the CC is built, and it is often very far from where the CC is placed

2: Can we have an additional template set up for the extractor heads too. We can then drop the structure template, drop the extractor head template and then link them.

3: when setting up the extraction head could the program duration have a numerical entry system rather than a slider, and can we then set that numerical number as a default for all the planets should we choose to

4: Also when setting the extractor heads sometime the individual circles overlap each other and sometimes they do not. Ive not quite workout out why or a way around this, but if it can be set within the code that they do not overlap by default would save a lot of time

NOTES

PI has had some improvements over the years with i think templates being the biggest one. But i believe it could be better with some small quality of life tweaks

Keywords: Nullsec, Restrictions, Small Alliances and Survival

Suggestions:

A suggestion for a new nullsec zone for smaller alliances less than 1000 members to live, and survive without the theat of being steamed rolled over by the bigger Nullsec Alliance blocks. This give the smaller alliances a chance to live, grow and survive. If they grow beyond 1000 members then they must move out of this zone into one of the other Nullsec areas.

A second suggestion is if a big alliance block takes over more than 20 systems and gains more systems by evicting the smaller ones to gain their space just to rent it out making a big profit, then there should be a big penalty for doing that. These big alliance blocks should be monitored and stopped.

Penalty Suggestion: For example 100 Trillion isk per month paid to CCP for renting out those systems they are renting to others.

Suggestion: Ability to sort inventory by m3

Keywords: ui, sorting, inventory
Note: Useful when doing transport of items and generally seeing what takes up all that space

Whenever I want to move large amounts of different items around, having an at a glance way to sort and prioritise based on the m3 of the item stack to divide up batches or contracts based on m3 would be very helpful. (Heck, ISK/m3 would be amazing too).

Suggestion: Ability to mass decommission PI facilities

Keywords: Planetary Industry, Management, QoL
Note: Useful when moving colony location on the planet surface.

Description: When you want to relocate your Colony to a new location on the planet it becomes very click-intensive when you have to decommission each and every facility individually. To remedy this I would suggest a “Decommission Selected”, similarly to how you can select all production facilities then r-click → Install Schematic

Suggestion: Additional PI shortcuts, renaming of launchpads and additional buttons.

Keywords: UI, PI, shortcuts
Note: Current interface requiring too many clicks to set things up or to maintain.

Whether or not people know the existing bits:

  • You can control-click on a facility to start making a link.
  • When decommissioning facilities, you click on a facility, then go to the decommission tab, then you can hit Enter on the keyboard instead of clicking Proceed to delete the facility.

It’d be nice to see a few additions here:

  • Alt-rightclick (or control-C) to copy the schematic, as well as input and output routes (read: sources and destinations) from a facility.
  • Alt-leftclick (or control-V) to paste the schematic, as well as input and output routes.
  • Holding shift and not hovering on a facility, then hold left click to create a bounding / selection box.
  • Holding shift and hovering on a facility, left clicking then adds or removes a facility from the selection.
  • Let the Delete key decommission a facility, without first needing to go to the decommission tab on a selection (whether you clicked one facility, or have a selection box active).
  • Let Q (configurable in shortcuts) act as a pipette. If hovering over a facility, then let the cursor hold that facility.
  • Let control-Enter be a shortcut to submit the changes to the colony.
  • Just like you can route an output, allow an expected input to be routed instead of the input needing to be present in a storage, launchpad or extractor.
  • It would be nice to be able to rename launchpads such that, in space, you don’t need to keep notes on what resource has to be transferred to what launchpad.
  • A button in the transfer window to transfer all goods with a single click, both on a planet for expedited transfer between storage, and at the skyhook, when tranferring to space and back to a planet.
  • An update or fix to the ‘refresh’ button in the PI menu that the button works with just a click and doesn’t incur a 10 second delay. Currently in compact mode and hovering on the button, you get an error tooltip (briefly) every second. And clicking the button isn’t a guaranteed refresh. Quite often, it fails and doesn’t do anything.
  • A button in the PI menu to refresh all planets at the same time.

This would make having production planets a lot easier, as well as maintaining many extraction planets, just update one facility and copy it to others, or have an easy way to multi-delete facilities (instead of 3 clicks (or two click and Enter) for each individual facility. Yes you can decommission an entire colony, but that means bringing a whole new command center to it. And that is even less profitable.

The error shown on the left when hovering over the refresh button (compact mode, haven’t tested non-compact):

And it shows, like clockwork, every second, but only for a few frames, but while it shows, the refresh button can be clicked, but doesn’t do anything.

Suggestion: Start multiple industry jobs at once

Keywords: UI, Industry
Note: Right now, to start 11 jobs, you have to click “Start” 11 times.

Just like the number of job runs, can we get a number input for the number of industry jobs to start at the same time? Whether it’s manufacting, reactions or science.

Cherry on top: a “Start all” button that fills all your remaining job slots at once.

Suggestion: Collate same blueprints in industry blueprints tab

Keywords: UI, Industry, Blueprints
Note: On delivering jobs, the list of blueprints shows each blueprint individually.

Out of corp security, not everyone has access to blueprints, and it would be nice if blueprints with the same typing (like reaction formulas, or industry blueprints with equal stats (ME/TE/remaining runs)) to be seen stacked in the industry view, rather than seeing a stack of 10, followed by 100 individual blueprints for the same formula. Instead, seeing a single stack of 110 would be most ideal.

Suggestion: Ability to change Lighting for 3D avatar model in Character Sheet and bring back portrait mode

Keywords: ui, character sheet, avatar, character model, portrait mode

The current lighting of the avatar model in the Character Sheet is rather unflattering to my girl. Further, the lighting there is divorced from that of the portrait creation screen.

I would like to be able to adjust the background and the lighting settings of that character model showcase in the Character Sheet, and/or be able to switch it to the old 2D portrait, which just looks so much better. (I believe that was still an option last time I played, a few years ago?)
