[March] Entosis Link and Sov Changes

It doesn’t matter for big alliances. Sov is all determined diplomatically.

So basically, you’re saying, “Hey Guise, WDYT about FAX reps on grid during sov captures?” The reduction in Jump Fatigue will mean they can make it almost anywhere now. So… fun times? Y/N

This all comes back to players wanting to rent out space and players willing to rent space. If the culture of EVE didn’t want to pvp once in a while and PVE in peace it’d be a much different scene. CCP can change mechanics but will never change the culture.

No, where you were allowed to settle was determined diplomatically.

Or, you know, the renters could get together with other renters and plant their own flag and dare the landlords to take it from them.

Agree, thats what i’m implying

Haave you ever played EVE?

Yes, you can break a FAX. Might take a few toons and some NEUTS. But, it will drop.

If you can’t break a FAX w/ a BS Entosis in subcaps, then you’re pathetic.

This is the essence of a Sandbox.

All they can do is incentivize chaos and occasionally shake it up a bit.

If you can break a Fax with a ‘few’ battleships, the fax is fitted badly.

As someone from a small alliance I very much dislike these changes. Takes away any real tactics to sov fighting and just makes it so whoever has the bigger escalation wins. Now the big alliances can just take whatever sov they want from smaller alliances without committing to take the sov. God forbid should a mega alliance have to put effort into taking more systems. We never really could compete with the bigger alliances but if they wanted our space they at least had to put effort into it.

the entosis purpose was to give the smaller alliances a chance in null sec by adding the next two factors you will ruin the initial purpose of entosis and will render the sov wars back where they were prior to the entosis links change

Allow remote assistance to subcapital ships with entosis links running (including remote reps)
will make bigger fleets able to capture areas and smaller corps/alliances will loose their option to withstand an attack or defend (try killing passively fit 150+ ehp battleship with 2-5 guardians or basilisks note that im not even talking about the capital logistics)

+100% sensor strength to any ship with an active cycling entosis link
this is totally useless as it will make the ship immune to most ewar making again the smaller corps/alliances weaker and don’t forget the ewar immunity to this 150+ EHP battleship

the battleship was just and example you can make a battleship with more that that ehp (you can do similiar with T3 cruisers with smaller signature or other ships with low sig and logi that you barely ccan hit it like ishtar for example or evenfrig size ships with afterburner)

Is this current system better than Dominion ? Yes.
Will it help smaller entities take sov ? Highly unlikely. They could in regions where there is simply no interest from major 0.0 players, but that has nothing to do with the sov mechanic. At present time, if you can’t assemble and field a supercapital fleet, you have no other option but to just join a major player out there or simply just rent.
It simply does not matter how you tweak the mechanics behind taking sov, when there’s already entities out there that can easy take at any time 2-3 regions of the galaxy.
If CCP wants to help smaller groups establishing out there in 0.0 on their own , they could just expand New Eden. Make it so that it won’t worth the effort for the already major actors out there to project their power. Right now it’s simply impossible for someone to enter regions like Deklein or Delve without bending over or renting . Yeah they could maybe take a few systems in Drone Lands for a limited period of time, but that’s about it.

to subcapital ships” implies I can put 4 FAXes + 4 brick toasters out and they’re essentially unbeatable? Or are capital to subcap reps still disallowed?

fozzie sov is the worst mechanic in this game. i would rather practice home dentistry than do it again. it consists of gangs of capture the flag tag crap that is nothing if not a waste of time. stop trying to fix it and replace it already

Sounds awesome. Especially the sensor strenght boost + the ablity to repair enthosis ships. This will end this shitty griffin-no-tank-full-jam-enthosis guerilla warfare. I dont see that this kills the ability to take sov for smaller groups. EBOLA is a smaller alliance and i think this will give us the possibility to have a small but effective fleet running a node. If a mass-alliance is going for sov, they can also bring 50 griffins and take the sov. This way the hostiles are forced to bring a fight to take or hold a node. I see good content incoming. Thanks CCP

(@manifesto in scalding pass: now you guys are screwed )

With the changes to the entosis link, maybe now is the time to think about integrating it into citadel warfare.

Just putting the idea out there, I’m aware it might be a bad idea, but what if a successful entosis attack on a vulnerable structure disables tethering capabilities either temporarily or for the rest of the fight? With the vastly reduced ranges of the entosis module that would mean the attacker has to get close to the structure (a risk) but also reap a not insignificant reward if they are successful. If they don’t want to take the risk nothing changes.

Why not also lockdown the assets and transfer ownership to the entoser, if successful ? It will be more stimulating.

… because everyone is so excited about bashing 100 POSes a day.

I agree Ceptors nullification has to go. Also Entosis should not be allowed to be equipped by capitals, Desys & frigates period. I don’t like remote rep changes only because capitals are a problem. Anything that brings the mass use of capitals back to Sov warfare I hate.

If ceptors loose nullification they will need a buff somewhere else as compensation

Let me be clear capitals should never ever be used as “Win Buttons” in Sov warfare, and allowing remote repair hits that button.

The problem with interceptors is not interdiction immunity, it is their agility. CCP needs to cripple that, so they won’t have those insane align times.
