Proposal: Post-Criminal Exposure Window in Highsec đŸŸ„

Play EVE Echoes then, it has very similar features to avoid ship loss.

When they blink, its too late. Might as well have let Greedo shoot first and rely on someone putting bucket over Greedo’s head to save Han.

Then there would only be one very short Star Wars movie instead of three.

And yet we have Chinese players on our server.

I was talking to Christine Creed, the person I replied to, not you.

That depends on the security status of the system. A ganker has a certain time allotted to do his thing, and he’s only going to bring as many ships as he needs to do the job. That means you have between 6 and 24 seconds to incapacitate one or more gank ships. If it’s a .9 without CONCORD prepulled, yeah, you don’t stand a chance, but in a .6 with CONCORD prepulled you’ll have plenty of opportunity. Carrying a flight of ECM drones works the same way. Yeah they’ll only engage after he starts shooting, but if they can knock out one or two ships, you may still make it.

There’s a little button, I think it’s [:left_arrow:Reply], under each post. By using the main reply, you’re replying to the OP, which is me.

Assuming you know where the target is

I did reply, but since you are the OP, you get a notification for every post. Plus I was directly after, so either one is acceptable, reading and comprehension is hard apparently.

That is not true. If have successfully prevented ganks from organized crews by using combat ships after they opened fire.

  1. All DPS-based setups like Catalysts, Coercers, Oracles, Nagas, Talos, Bombers (lately Cenotaphs) for example use the window until CONCORD arrives to apply damage to their targets and it is often carefully calculated how much time they have and how many rounds of ammo they can pump into the target.

You disrupt them by EWAR or taking out their ships quickly or apply RR to their target and the gank will fail. Proven a thousand times. I have done it myself and it works fine. Anyone else claiming “that isn’t possible” is either lying or has never done it.

A well-fitted Oracle can destroy up to 4 Catalysts before CONCORD arrives. That means it reduces the total damage dealt by 4 of their ships by ~50%.
The 1. Catalyst can do ~20% of it’s intended damage, then it dies.
The 2. Catalyst ca. do ~40% of it’s intended damage, then it dies.
The 3. Catalyst can do ~60% of it’s intended damage, then it dies.
The 4. Catalyst can do ~80% of it’s intended damage, then it dies.

A well fitted/skilled Blackbird/Rook/Falcon/Scorpion can reliably prevent 2-3 Catalysts from applying damage by successfully jamming them right away. A Griffin/Kitsune 1-2.

Again: This is TESTED and it works.

  1. All Alphastrike-based Setups like Thrashers, Ruptures, Tornadoes often pick targets that can be killed by a single shot, sometimes scaling up by using multiple ships to bring bigger targets down in one shot.

These ships you can’t stop from ganking with DPS or EWAR (well, to a degree you can because for a part their setups are calculated to bring out 2 shots before CONCORD arrives, in those cases you could lower their efficiency by 50% when killing/disrupting them before the 2nd shot comes out).

But their much bigger weakness is their reliance on good range and low transversal. They lose a huge part of their damage if they cannot shoot a target that either has very low velocity (directly after decloaking when trying to get into warp) or flying in a perfect line towards them (autopilot targets, undocking targets). They mostly have well selected gankspots that allow them to deliver good shots at the end of their Artillery’s optimal range with great precision.
So, the perfect solution is to simply bump these guys. Thrashers can be bumped with MWD frigs, Ruptures either with Cruisers or 50MN frigates, Tornados with 500MN Cruisers, 50MN Battlecruisers or MWD Battleships.
Perfect choices are: 50MN Punishers, 500MN Omen

You don’t even need to wait for them to engage anything. Bump them 10 times in a row from their spot and they probably will go docking, warp of or at least not engaging anything for as long as you do it. Well, they might try to shoot you, but in almost any case they won’t. Because your ship will always be either a lot cheaper than the ones they need to successfully kill you and they will get a secstatus loss they have to pay for with tags and you can be back within a minute and you will then have a free killright on them. So, tldr: Bump Alphagankers into oblivion and they will fail

I have also tested that: it works

Those two options are very easy entry-level anti-ganking options which ensure some types of ganking (especiall on gates or stations) will fail. Of course you’d have to scale up and cooperate with others if they have an overwhelming presence, but thats just balance. You can’t expect to make a 50 man crew fail by showing up with one ship.

  1. Sometimes it isn’t even nessessary to engage the Gankers. You can also assist the target. That can be remote-Repairs (Burst-RR fits for Logistic Ships do exist) or by simply bumping the target.

I also have successfully saved DSTs and even Battleships by ramming a 500MN Omen into them right when the Catalyst blob engaged. Even hurling them away 20km will make sure all Catalysts are way out of weapon range and they have no chance to get back to their target and keep applying damage before CONCORD is there. You could also use a brick-tanked 500MN Machariel or something and just crash into the Catalyst ball, you’ll hurl 3, 4, 5 of them many kilometers, often enough to reduce damage on a high-tanked target like Orca, Freighter, Faction-Battleship or DST.

Also: I have tried it, it works.

So it would be highly appreciated of some people would stop claiming “you can do nothing!!!” - you can. And if all those things above can even be done solo, they could be done with much higher efficiency when acting as a dedicated group.

I call BS.

What proof do you have?

Testing antiganking strategies also involves Tracking Disruption. Doesn’t work too well vs. Catalysts tho, so it should be ignored.

Using raw DPS works better, but you need some numbers:

Killed before CONCORD was there, reducing the damage they could deal.

Could it save the targets in this case? No. It was just testing the concept by using different ships and see how they perform. It shows that you can kill multiple Catalysts during a gank before CONCORD is there, lowering the time they have to apply DPS on the target. Which means you make the gank more costly (gankers need more ships to sacrifice) and move targets out of their damage range (once they hit a limit of accounts they can use).
Any group wanting to do something against Ganking could simply scale up the ships used and successfully prevent ganks. It’s very obvious that it doesn’t work bringing one or two ships against 20, 30 or 50 gankers. I’d recommend Talos’ and Oracles, they work best.

Successfully killed the ganker before he could fire a second round. Target lived.

Successfuly baited a gankquad into believing I was an activetank eventrunner, found out I just waited for them.

So, that should be enough “proof” that I have actually DONE antiganking (and thats by far not all you can see here, as I have multiple accounts and my main usually lives in Wormholes).

Bumping, Tankbaiting and Remoterepping obviously generates no Battlereports as there are no mails with the char involved. But, given the fact that I can back up my claims with facts and you cannot, I think we can agree to trust on my word rather than on yours in this matter.

You’ve got about 990 to go

not really, you have yet a single point to make.

Ganking is imbalanced an without risk. CCP seems to like it or can’t fix it. I get chastised or blocked for breathing.

The truth stands on it’s own, even if some are too impaired to comprehend it.

Either way, the game is stuck.

Perhaps it’s intended to be a loss.

Accumulating wisdom seems to be a long journey for you specifically but this realization and public admission of it proves you have a chance of getting there
 eventually.

I have yet to hear a compelling case for this statement. Just repeating yourself isn’t an argument.

Barely a case, let alone a compelling one. And begging the question, with respect to the assertion that ganking is imbalanced.

You don’t actually make that argument, you start with that assumption and present your solution.

You know what they say about opinions?

“Hauling has no risk because I pre-budgeted the loss”
is basically what your “argument” says, but put on the other side. ISK lost is still ISK lost.

It’s.. not an opinion. The post doesn’t even discuss the balance of ganking, it just proceeds to your solution for whatever problem it is you’re imagining.
