Risk vs Reward ninja mining

Why are you the authority on what constitutes “on topic discussion?” By your logic you should have all your posts removed since they’re more about proving your debate prowess than whether or not moon miners should go suspect

Tried that early in the thread, got shot down by the “moon ore should be free to all” crowd.

Problem with this thread is - it is about something in highsec, where the majority want risk free game play - Even when it involves taking what someone else has built.

It means there is not issue enough with them that people stop using them in general. They’re fine.

In the same way there was not issue enough with eve in 2013 for players to stop playing in general. It was fine.

It was only after players stopped playing in large amounts that the general perception started to shift that things were not fine.

So if the general use of athanors started to go down, i would shift my perception to things being not fine.

@Teckos_Pech thankyou for chiming in.

To put this in context of athanors and fracking,

Why are people fracking if they could become wealthier with other mining alternatives. It must be because it has more value to them and their individual circumstances.

Or even other in game activities. If having an athanor is worse than doing [insert activity] for crying out loud go do that other activity. If CCP sees that athanors are not being used (presumably in HS since this thread is discussing timers)…then they’ll see something needs to be done (hahahaha…I’m a glass half full guy today. :stuck_out_tongue: ).

unrelated. You are repeating the same thing. But it is still false.
it does NOT mean they are fine.

unrelated.

No.
It can also be because they have not enough experience to make the math. Or for any other reason you are not able to imagine.
It definitely does not mean there is no issue.

I literally love you.

That’s assuming they have an existing metric, and that they are concerned about it.

Since they have data on just about everything we do in their game…they can most likely come up with the metric if they don’t have one already.

Let people make these decisions based on the risk, return and their own personal preferences. If using an athanor is annoying and not fun because people are stealing “your ore” then look around at your alternatives and if one looks better do that.

to “be able to come up with” is definitely not the same thing as “to see”.

Anyhow it does not change the fact that that the ninja harvesters are unbalanced.

When you claim “it’s not an issue because people are still using it” it’s a big nonsense.

I imagine a quick check was done the first time the conversation came up. After which I’m guessing ccp rise seemed unconcerned and said suspect didn’t make sense.

“imagine”.

Why? Because they can steal “your” ore? Then shoot them. Mine faster (e.g. more people). Bump them. War dec them if they are deccable.

Well i kinda have to. No offical report was released.

But i can wander round highsec and guestimate moon coverage. And speculate that lots of athanors means lots of fracking.

Read the topic.

TLDR : Because they risk less than the people who placed the structure, and have access to the same reward.

Athanors are also used for compression, even out of .5. eg in ice belt systems.

Then don’t place the structure and go steal from others…

Or try the other things I noted.

So you agree there is an issue. Thank you.

"orthruses are OP? then fly orthrus too ! "That’s your argument.

No. I think that people should evaluate these things for themselves and make decisions on what is the strategy to pursue. That you think it is a problem is insufficient. Especially you have not shown any reason to think there is a problem beyond people are being sneaky.

Mining lasers should cause damage to targetted modules.

You are confusing mechanics with behavior. A ship being OP is down to the mechanics relating to that ship.

Stealing ore after fracking is not an OP ship.

You are making a category error.

Here we are discussing mechanisms, not behavior.

stealing people ore is OP mechanisms.

The activity is present because the mechanism allow it.
