No idea why you’re bringing this up. Imo gigX should get a visit from cops, not medical staff. There is no reason to believe he wouldn’t execute his threat, and playing it off is too risky.
Games are not reality. If you can’t seperate it, then you should get banhammered for your own good.
Not true, we have a character we name, an avatar, clothing for that character, hairstyles, hats, glasses … we train that character in skills and so they progress along defined paths (classes essentially) and so on.
Basically unless you are actually an Amarrian space pirate called Monitar Poljus then you are in an RPG.
If we played with our real names and there was no character creation you might be right.
LOL I used to threaten people all the time in real life. Still do sometimes. The difference is it was part of my job. And there is nothing mentally wrong with me outside of PTSD, but that isnt the reason for my anger… that is pure and simple genetics.
Genetics, as an excuse for lack of self control and emotional maturity, is invalid. If it was valid, we’d need to throw our justice system over board, plus most of the world’s problems could be solved by wiping the genetically inferior (in this case you) from the face of the planet.
I hope you see why that’s not a way to go forward.
Anger issues usually are a problem of the ego, solvable through behavioural therapy or good old talking, until whatever surfaces the anger becomes realized. Using genetics as an argument is usually a sign that the person does not want to believe that he is responsible for his own actions. i hope that you think differently.
Everyone on my moms side of the family have horrible tempers that are easy to set off, with no real restraint when we get angry. My dads side of the family most of the family is normal but we have about 1 in 3 that have black out rage levels of anger. My great grandmother used to say it was because we are “Gichi”.
The older I get the more I can control my temper, but sometimes it just feels good to let lose on someone. This is why I still practice MMA and HEMA to this day. It is my anger outlet.
Good thing I am not an Amarrian space pirate then, but a proud independent Caldari smalltime Miner
I see it boils down to what people understand with RPG
From my perspective, and my side of the pixels, we lack the posibility to exit our ships at stations, and walk around with out avatars talking to other avatars taking their players for a walk.
I fully understand that this is not something catering to all players, but it is a part of RP that helps at least me to get fully imerged in the game.
Judging from lack of support for actual avatar gameplay, I understand everyones concern about CCP wanting us to roleplay spaceships.
But RP is not about spaceship gameplay only, its also about writing in chat or on forums. Doing stuff that your avatar would do, if he could walk and had a pair of hands.
i take a holiday in orlando and i miss all this shite, lol, well all that can be said is be very careful what you say in game in regards to another persons safety. EVE is a game and it should be treated as a game, the second you start bringing it into real life is the second you should be banned from the game.
i do feel sorry for his alliance members, but then i don’t, it’s EVE and this shite happens all the time.
what ya gotta think is will someone use the EULA as a weapon,? hell yes!
so be careful what you say in game, it will get you a holiday from the game and if what you type is serious enough you will get a permaban.
[sentence 1] is totally fine and does no harm.
[sentence 2] causes someone to rage until they make threats.
[sentence 3] is a threat.
[sentence 4] makes someone laugh.
[sentence 5] is a lie.
What aspect of sentence 3 makes it “out of game”?
Another thing is that people are not buying a place to be careful about what they say or maintain control of themselves and exercise restraint. They can do that at work or their local library.
They are buying a place where they can violence their fellow man, or at least his in-game representation. Some people have even found ways to do real-world, consequential psychological violence to others using in-game means (unless you think such phenomena is “not real”) . . . but we have to watch our mouths and act right or we’ll get banned?
Reality is kinda hard and fiction is kinda easy and I have emotions about both. Part of it may be that I don’t WANT to separate the fiction, the easy part with the rewarding emotional experiences, from the reality, which may not be such an emotionally rewarding experience. And I just wonder why the emotions I have about fiction are “not real” versus the ones I have about reality ARE “real”. I understand my emotions are a part of myself, something that I can perceive as easily as I can look down and perceive my hands typing this post. But if my hand is real . . .
You know like at the end of Harry Potter when you’re scared about what good guys are gonna die, but you’re not ‘really’ scared? It’s like that. The things you were concerned about were never ‘really’ real and never ‘really’ mattered.
Why? Shrug. That seems like a philosophical question, but anyway, that’s the way things are, so there you have it.
You clearly understand the standard and are aware of it, you just don’t like it. You’re whining.
And here I was concerning myself with your differing opinion when it’s not “really” real and doesn’t “really” matter. Talk about a self defeating argument . . . gg. Better luck next time.
Do you see the “CCP” in front of Mr. Falcon’s individual moniker? That signifies that he is a member of a group, a “corporation” or something similar. He is acting, not just as an individual, but as a member and even representative of his group. If he just let loose and called me (or you) a whiny little pissant [expletive deleted], it might reflect on not just himself, but his group, and in a way that he or they do not want. Undoubtedly, where ever he and his group stand on the issue, their actions will have real world consequences for themselves, whereas, you and I are just having a space discussion. Let’s let them speak for themselves.
A child will attempt to expand the boundaries of a discussion (as you just did) to “win” the discussion, even going so far as to lie, cheat, conspire, threaten, or even commit physical harm (Sacre bleu!). Be an adult and take responsibility for your own opinion. The worst that can happen is you’ll go from being wrong to being right . . . and maybe get laughed at a little bit.
Not exactly sure. I have seen many CCP employees use the term “HTFU”. I imagine that Falcon would choose to show a little bit of mercy with his comments since there to seem to be so many players that are obviously distraught by what has taken place.
Mayhaw, I was just simply showing you that all this whining about the subject is humorous. CCP will not come to your aid. I am just amazed you’ve chose to continue posting, with the content matter being such trash.
A heist is a heist but when it’s a CCP’s sanctioned CSM group meetings shows unbiased support and collusion. Tarnished and discredited. How can you ever trust it’s members again.
Because if you read the minutes you will see the CSM doing its job. CCP didn’t take everyone out to dinner, then say “okay now we want all of you to metagame and destroy each other’s alliance”.
CCP profits from conflict and turmoil. They create publicity that sheds light on this unique game we have. All of your parroting is unfounded. Do you have proof that CCP had a hand in this other than taking the entire CSM out for dinner?
