So wait, you genuinely think that CCP would have left it up to RNG to literally decide which, out of thousands of systems can become vulnerable?
Have you never noticed how the high sec incursions always seem to be grouped around the same areas? CCP is telling a story here and the trigs are after something “specific”, so yeah, the list of systems that can be flipped is from a set pool of systems in order for nothing major to break, you’ll find that by default all the rookie systems will be off the list along with major trade hubs, certain highways will still exist aswell, its really not that difficult of a concept to look at, there is no benefit from a game design perspective to have an MMO where literal RNG decides if entire sections of space get cut off from others because a highway gets flipped
Actually its the bigger picture i’m looking at, its called sustainability and that the game still always has to be accessible to new players, hence there will always be a set playground for those newer players to play around in, i think as an experienced player you seem to be forgetting about that part, so who exactly is looking from a narrow perspective?
The lore is just fluff used to allow them to make sweeping changes to the game in a way that people will digest easily, do you not remember the fun of what happened the last time CCP messed around with highway routes?
You might not be old enough to remember that Yulai used to actually be the cetral trade hub and not jita, that only happened after the highway changes, this event is pretty much the same thing, an adjustment to highways but veiled under an ingame event rather than just being listed in some patch notes
Do they not teach common sense anymore? its literally basic deductive reasoning, CCP wouldn’t want to risk RNG completely destroying empire space, that is just a simple logical assumption, hence they will have specified a list of systems they would be willing to “risk”, now RNG is likely used to decide which of that pool of systems will be a target but its extremely naive to think that they would just point it at the entire of high sec and just let it go off on its own
To be fair the only “nonsense” i’m seeing is someone who seems to genuinely think that a 100% random invasion would actually work or that it would be good design practice, have you ever worked with random systems? yeah they don’t generally work out too well, even “procedurally generated” games and worlds still follow a set of defined basic rules in order to keep the game in a playable state to begin with, in an MMO it would be even less wise to have the system be truly random, mainly because there isn’t actually any “true” randomness when it comes to computers, its all pseudo random
Correct, because remember, this isn’t a single player game its an MMO, so for new players there still needs to be a set sandbox for them to explore and learn in, again you seem to be forgetting those people exist and that at its core this game does still need to maintain a set playground within the sandbox
Honestly i’m more amazed that someone playing EVE is unable to view the entire picture, this isn’t exactly a “simple” game and there are so many interconnected systems in play, there is literally no way you would ever want to just fire off a random system in EVE without there being a set of defined guidelines for that system to follow, i mean you accept the idea of a loot table but not that CCP wouldn’t define a set of systems to be used by an event to remove the chance that the event could severely break other systems that exist
How are we going to define a win or a loss here, if you can define a specific “win condition” then sure we can put some ISK on it, but i’m not sure we could actually come up with a specific condition to define a win or a loss really, if you can think of a way for this to be “bet” upon then sure i’m in
