The chatbox bars moving is an issue.
A UI feature that was lost to time but that I think many miss is the Window Snap Distance. Current EVE UI force a 2 pixel snapping distance but it used to be a selectiable option. Could this UI option be considered for a comeback with Photon?
Looks terrible.
What is now on Singularity too far from adequate production.
So we get this as on opt in system but not the old skills window seriously.
If it aināt brokeā¦ Donāt fix it.
Learn from the map escapades
Looking at modern RTS UI you can absolutely make a UI that scales well into 4k so your assertion is simply wrong. what moving parts? its just windows in space dudeā¦ its only ārecentlyā theyāve been pushing this stupid fluffy UI. map i think was the start?
I think your Graphics card analogy is a bit obtuseā¦ to say the leastā¦ at best its one from 5 years ago. Which should be completely supported. saying 720 is like a 20 yo graphics card is a pretty good joke though. Iām not asking to play at 480 dudeā¦ my Eve O Preview Windows are that big ffs lol.
They shouldnāt be designing with less customization in mindā¦ period. Yet thatās exactly what they have been doing with Skill queue and Agency style windows. you canāt merge them with anything you canāt resize themā¦ theyāre gigantic for no real reason. required to be completely opaque for no real reasonā¦ ā ā ā ā the Map uses the same UIā¦ its CRAP we thought it was crap when they put it out back thenā¦ but CCP knows best! SMH
I repeat Fitting window is the only acceptable window to be unable to be resized\opaque\customized. everythingā¦ EVERYTHING ELSE should be player choice.
oh godā¦ noā¦ please noā¦ i canāt ready half of that even with squinting at the screenā¦
Yeah you can, scale everything up or down according to display DPI by default, and let the user override if they want it bigger or smaller.
well, that is only mine before and after, as mentioned before at the same settings. Yours/others might be different.
Obviously we will need to adapt when its in, after all the feedback, early days yet ofc and as long as we provide logical productive feedback what could possibly go wrong.
My main gripe is the size, I also donāt like this new approach to massive text and borders.
In many ways, its crisp, fresh and cool, its just too fat and you cant see it.
iām missing the full dark mode in the window settings. at the moment there are only 2 option: light background or no light background.
The flashing notifications when you are in space are annoying, immersion-breaking and intrusive. It is as if every 10 seconds the UI is screaming HEY! IM HERE, YES RIGHT HERE, OH,OH, IM HERE DO YOU SEE ME, JUST HERE, YES RIGHT THERE, THAT IS ME AND IM HERE TO HELP YOU AND OH, BTW DO YOU SEE ME BECAUSE IM RIGHT HERE AND AGAIN IM HERE, FLASH, FLASH, FLASHā¦
I know that the UI for EVE is complicated but this needless flashing is not a step forward but a step backward, we want to play EVE not keep telling the UI to shut the hell up!
Since you are doing UI updates:
It is hard for me to see the next gate on my set path on the overview because just the gate itself is yellow and the yellow is not visibly much different to me then white, if you could make the entire line of text yellow that would help. (please dont make an enitre bar of yellow, that would be excessive and annoying).
thanks.
The brightness setting will not save so I cannot evaluate the brightness level with respect to these new graphical updates as someone that is photo-sensitive the effect that brightness has on these new elements is important for me to be able to test.
The skills topic that you currently have selected has bleed on my screen making it ugly. It is readible but looks like a poorly worked 5 min graphical element.
Some of the new large buttons that the UI have are sloppy in execution as the cover too much space, sometimes pushing over other UI elements.
The set key bind option in game comes to set upon the option to change it exactly, the same option in the new NI requires you to move the mouse a bit downward to do the same, small QoL change to make it function the same would be nice.
Itās like the leading is wrong, with the text, leading being the space between other letters and the frame, originating from the days bits of lead were used as spacers in the letterpress frame.
Perhaps tighten it up a bit?
Oh, and my dream request for a UI change:
please provide an opt-out for ships getting dirty. I clean 4-7 ships every day because I paid for ship skins, not dirty ship skins. If someone wants their ship to get dirty they have an opt-in so everyone is happy and a tiresome bunch of ship cleaning button pushing comes to an end!
Admittedly Transparency is completely off for me because i have a hard time seeing through it so i get the settings thing.
My issue is the White on White while the window is completely transparent. with no text in the Chat window you can hardly tell its even there. I do like the Borderās they look nice but thatās not a whole UI revampā¦ thatās changing one elementā¦ Iām concerned for what ever else they want to changeā¦ more skill queue type UI can ā ā ā ā right off.
Sure, but scaling up from something that looks good at 720 looks like minecraft at 4k. scaling down to 720 from 4k is equally bad. Sure, fonts can overcome things like that, but imagine having to design all the graphics and images at all the different scales and resolutions and still making it look good.
1080 has been the standard resolution for gaming for easily 10 years. Anything lower than that has all but gone the way of the Dodo. Even if they allow setting the window smaller than that, youāre gonna have to deal with some issues. Just like if you play an older game at 4k and you have to deal with the microscopic elements.
