Skill Point Booster Implant market would agree with you!
Have it be a humble fee. Like 6 million ISK for a new pod and the ability to use implants on a new clone. (ISK is easier to come by than skill points. And its something players are used to losing anyway.)(This is a serious suggestion)
I couldnt steer this game back to the success it once had, with the help of talented engineers and artists and players
I think I can see where are you comming from - there are players who are dying over and over and over like those intel bots in ganking systems and this idea is probably aimed against them. (and stacking penalties are meaningless for them)
Logically it makes sense. But not every idea that makes sense logically or ârealisticallyâ (it is sci-fi, but that doesnât mean that some mechanics cannot be realistic) is a good idea.
It is a game and as such it need to be also accessible and fun. Mechanics like this does not contribute to anything meaningful than to make the game more annoying to play.
This is the main reason I left the JA2 modding community as they kept doing more and mrore realistic features such as food&drink system, diseases etc. that only made game more annoying to play and add anything meaningful. Games needs to be fun in the first place even if you have to bend the physics or exclude some things.
If we design the game in accordance with your argument then all ships and modules should be free. Otherwise the game would be annoying to play.
Dont get me wrong i understand where you are coming from. At first glance free stuff sounds good, what can go wrong, players will love free stuff. But thats not how things work in reality imo.
I mean to my memory this is the first time CCP literally gave plex to everyone considered âan active account.â Before we just got the praxis/other ships to sell on the market.
Idk if you are trying to bait me or something but i for one do enjoy the free plex. There is a difference between giving free pods and free plexes tho imo. If i really tried i could explain why but who gives a â â â â
No that is not the same. Not at all.
Capsule, pod, is a respawn mechanism. If it is not a free then if you donât have money then you either cannot respawn or go into debt. If you would go into a debt, then it solves nothing really and if you canât play at all until someone transfers the money, well then it is just needless and super annoying obstruction.
There is or was one multiplayer server in Neverwinter Nights 1, it featured an unique mechanic of respawn. Basically you had 5 lives. If you lost them all, you couldnât respawn at all, and your only option was to quit/delete the toon or get a cleric via 3rd party channels such as discord to resurrect you. The thing is, anytime you died and respawned, you could speak to the NPC that resurrected you and buy the extra life (up to 5 total) for very small fee. Thus in reality it didnât impact anything, and was just extremely annoying mechanic to deal with which only impacted those with short memory. What you are proposing is basically exactly the same.
There was 7day free omega event last year around december I think. I would count that as giving us something for free. (if we exclude the daily login rewards)
The Capsuleer is, in effect, hired by one of the empires. Itâs a program, sponsored by each empire for their own interests. Notably against pirate factions, to go rescue hostages in situations where itâs better to keep the whole affair quiet, to help miners against roaming criminals⌠So for serving an empire ( who is far from broke ) the Capsuleer gets a free clone everytime he dies and the pods are manufactured by millions. One day of Capsuleer activities for an empire pays for the pod and more.
We Capsuleers arenât space hobos. We are in the service of rich corporations and empires.
You can board your corvette and sell it somewhere else. You can do that all day if it pleases you.
The pod / clone is covered by the omega sub / plex fee. Alphas have other lore associated with it (sleeper tech iirc,) but I believe their costs are covered by the Air corporation.
Furthermore, it seems like some tech is molecularly assembled from pure energy. (I donât think thatâs official lore, but itâs my head cannon for spawning in corvettes free of charge.)
Free skill extractors are better than free corvettes, clones and pods because if skill extractors was free then in the worst case scenario could extract some skill points and sell them to get back on your feet.
