The faction standing with corporation standing define the broker fees when trading in stations belonging to that faction.

BrokerFee % = 3% - 0.1% × BrokerRelationsLevel - 0.03% × FactionStanding - 0.02% × CorpStanding

The faction standing also has the most serious effect if it gets too low. At -5.00 faction standing navy vessels will chase you down in high security space that belongs to that faction. As long as you pay attention you can travel through their space as they will not point your ship but just attack and web.

Standing Effect
−5 modified You are “kill on sight” anywhere in that faction’s space. NPC Navies will spawn and attack you. Note that unlike Concord, Navy ships will not warp disrupt or scram you.
-2 modified Agents of that faction will no longer speak to you regardless of corp or agent standing. Except L1 agents, these will continue to be available.
0.0 unmodified You may join Factional Warfare for that faction.
1.0 modified Access to all normal L2 agents of that faction.
3.0 modified Access to all normal L3 agents of that faction.
5.0 modified Access to all L4 agents of that faction.
7.0 modified Access to all L5 agents of that faction.

Faction standing is also required for all COSMOS agents. The standing requirements for these agents are different than for normal agents. These agents don’t care about your corp standing.

Standing Effect
2.0 modified Access to L2 COSMOS agents of that faction.
4.0 modified Access to L3 COSMOS agents of that faction.
6.0 modified Access to L4 COSMOS agents of that faction (not all).
7.0 modified Access to L4 COSMOS agents of that faction (not all).
8.5 modified The factions will offer you a special COSMOS mission (faction frigate BPC or implant).
9.2 modified The factions will offer you a special COSMOS mission (faction cruiser BPC or implant).
9.9 modified The factions will offer you a special COSMOS mission (faction battleship BPC or implant).

Corporation standings

Corporation standing does not effect as many systems as faction standings. Corporation standing is used to get access to higher level mission agents and to lower broker and reprocessing fees in NPC station. Corporation standing towards the resource wars corporations is also needed to gain acces to higher level wesource wars sites.

Standing Effect
-2 modified Agents of that corporation will no longer speak to you regardless of faction or agent standing. Except L1 agents, these will continue to be available.
1.0 modified Access to all normal L2 agents of that corporation. L2 resource wars.
3.0 modified Access to all normal L3 agents of that corporation. L3 resource wars.
5.0 modified Access to all normal L4 agents of that corporation. L4 resource wars.
7.0 modified Access to all normal L5 agents of that corporation. L5 resource wars.
6.67 modified Tax-free refining.

Agent standings

Agent standings are the weakest NPC standings but also the fastest one to gain. This standing allows you to take missions from that one agent with whom you have standing even if your faction or corporation standings are not high enough as long as both of them are better than -2.00.

Standing Effect
-2 modified This agent will no longer speak to you regardless of faction or corporation standing. Except L1 agents, these will continue to be available.
1.0 modified Access to L2 agent.
3.0 modified Access to L3 agent.
5.0 modified Access to L4 agent.
7.0 modified Access to L5 agent.

One question please, when you’re talking about the special COSMOS mission that reward a faction vessel, what ships are you talking about ?

Example, the Caldari Battleship BPC would be either the Navy Raven or Scorpion, right ?

Also, what is that implant you talked about ?

Thanks in advance !

When Faction Standing has risen high enough with a specific NPC Faction, they have special Cosmos Agents located in space that offer 2-run ship BPC’s. Those Agents accept standings modified by social skills.

I actually just posted old notes which are incomplete. There’s not a lot of info available about these Agents. The Implant reward has been reported as random and I don’t know exactly what type of Tags the Pirate Factions require. I think they might require Tags from enemy Pirate Factions.

There’s other Null Sec Cosmos Agents available too but I think they offer BPC’s for Booster production. I don’t know if their mission offers can be repeated or not. This has a list of Null Sec Cosmos Constellations and Agent locations.

https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/COSMOS#COSMOS_constellations

Anyway, hope that helps.

Cosmos missions are one time per character missions. None can be repeated and if u lose one u will never get it back again.

I really don’t understand why, on a game people keep playing for years, there are missions that can only ever be done once. What’s the logic behind it ?

the rewards for them are sometimes very good, aka “storyline” modules (at least some of them) and making those missions repeatable and saturating market with those modules might not be the best idea.
But i do agree that some safety/replayability should be in place, even if it’ll take half a year or whole year for completed/failed cosmos missions to reset.

1 Like

you can do them every 6 months if I’m not mistaken

i have heard of this as well, but information is scarce and all over the place. The old is mixed with new-ish one and it creates a lot of confusion.

I’m about 70% sure it does.

Some Cosmos Agents do offer missions that can be repeated, however those only offer a single mission which doesn’t give any Faction standing increase and they’re not chained to other Cosmos Agents.

Only the Cosmos Agents who don’t give any Faction standing increase can be repeated, all other Cosmos Agents that give Faction standing increase can only be completed once in the life of the character.

That also includes Career and Data Center Agents. Circle Agents may be repeated but they only give Faction standing increase during their first run, after that it’s only Corporation and Agent standing increase.

Other than Storyline Agents, Epic Arcs are the only repeatable source to gain Faction standing increase which can be done every 90 days.

Once again - given people stay on Eve for years, where’s the logic in ‘once-only’ ?

I agree, but that’s how CCP made it.

Personally I think all Career, Circle, Data Center and Cosmos Agents should be repeatable once a year.

News to me that there is I always thought all of them could only be done once. Good to know thanx.

Yeah, unfortunately most of the Cosmos Agents that offer a single mission aren’t worth the time to do, completing their mission objective is time consuming and usually expensive, especially since their reward is sub-par.

Ask the CEO of the NPC corp, send him a message. Tell him this:

"Hello, my name is [redacted],

I have been a long standing supporter of your corporation, and have become 10.0 standing!

Please suck my [redacted].

I deserve it all.

Sincerely, [redacted]"

Back when I ran Cosmos (2011 to 2013) I made notes about Cosmos Agents. Over the years CCP hasn’t really done any changes to them that I know of, other than move a few of their locations.

Anyway, according to my notes, only the Cosmos Agents who have their mission series listed with yellow text in the Mission Journal as Important Storyline actually give Faction standing increase and can’t be repeated.

Cosmos Agents who only offer a single mission that gives no Faction standing increase but can be repeated when completed will have their mission offer listed in the Mission Journal simply as Storyline.

The Mission Briefing will show at the top if it affects Faction standing, for example this one states - This is an important mission which will have significant impact on your Faction standings.

Compared to this one that doesn’t state anything in the top.

Anyway, I’ve completed almost all Cosmos Agents for the 4 main Empire Factions. This is my list of Agents who offer a single mission which can be repeated but doesn’t give Faction standing increase.

Just to expand on this, running these missions will only raise Agent and Corporation standing. Most of the required items are random drops found in Cosmos Complexes which takes a long time to collect. If you buy the items from the Market, it will cost you more than what the mission reward pays.

Here’s some examples of why the single mission Cosmos Agents are not worth the time to do.

Taru Kubona = Level 1 Caldari Cosmos Agent - Otitoh System - Devil’s Dig Site
Mission = Finders Keepers
Objective = Acquire 4 units of Talocan Mechanical Gears (4.0mÂł)
Reward = 45,000 ISK ; Bonus 20.000 ISK (completed within 60 minutes)

Average Market price for that item is about 100,000 ISK.

Another example:

Abotur Kverkinn = Level 2 Minmatar Cosmos Agent - Hjoramold System - Lord Bastion
Mission = Too Good to be True
Objective = Acquire 2 units of Sleeper Nanite Cluster (2.0mÂł)
Reward = 45,000 ISK ; Bonus: 20,000 ISK (completed within 60 minutes)

Average Market price for that item is about 200,000 ISK.

Another example:

Akraun Maertigor = Level 2 Minmatar Cosmos Agent - Barkrik System - The Hyperbole Nexus
Mission = The Lullaby
Objective = Acquire 4 units of Sleeper Data Crystals (4.0mÂł)
Reward = 45,000 ISK ; Bonus: 20,000 ISK (completed within 60 minutes)

Average Market Price for that item is 500,000 ISK.
