I decided to toss Komi a bone, that is all. She can do with it as she pleases. But feel free to look over my comments in her campaign thread (and this one) and tell me how much of a fraudster I really am. Almost the entirety of commentary generated by myself and others toward Komi has been collectively negative or critical in both threads - just how much of a fraudster am I?

The interview process with Komi is nearing completion. I am most certainly not endorsing or voting for her after getting answers, but what I can say is she did end up being more qualified and competent than Brewlar before he dropped out. Granted, saying “X is more qualified than Brewlar” isn’t saying much (even Steve Ronuken stepped in to give him a kiss of death), but given that Brewlar didn’t merit a Hunt, it is plausible that the grounds for a hunt against Komi have been invalidated. There’s plenty of room to continue being critical of Komi, though. (Being critical is not the same thing as smearing, mind you.) I’ll have more to say about that when the interview process is completely finished and the results are “published” for consideration as to whether or not the Hunt should proceed or be terminated.

The following is the summary of my interview with @Komi_Valentine. We edited the summary together, and she has duel-posted the interview on her campaign thread: questions, suggestions, and comments regarding the interview should go on her campaign thread. This thread should continue to only focus on The Hunt itself.
Summary of Archer en Tilavine’s interview of Komi Valentine
Archer: How many other characters are you currently playing with alongside Komi, and what kinds of activities are they doing?
Komi [OOC]: I have my old character on the same account + an alt (2012). At the moment I’m just using my old characters for PI. I want to focus on Komi and drive her story. I have created a second account for RP-Alts, I just use them for RP-reasons and they are alphas.
Komi’s CSM Platform and Positions
Lore/RP Enhancement and Game Immersion
- Address Lore inconsistencies (eg. regarding Minmatar magic elders)
- Show and link World News / ISD Articles / Scope Videos in-game
- Introduce lore guide/library in-game (eg. timeline)
- Introduce thematic lore elements to FW in-game such as freighters full of slaves warping away
- Introduce Bloodline/Tribe specific skins in addition to faction SKINs (eg. right now there is only one ship with a Vherokior SKIN even though it is only one of three playable races)
- Introduce bloodline apparel
- Push for more faction apparel as well as headwear and tattoos
- Introduce portal for direct submission of creative content (SKINs, apparel, stories for lore inclusion, etc)
- Create some civil shuttles (you can’t interact with them, they just warp from gate to station)
- Show maintenance drones flying around stations
- Discuss possibly bringing back and expanding the ability to walk in stations
- Wrecks should not suddenly disappear after salvaging. It’s silly that a battleship instantly disappears after salvaging one “Charred Micro Circuits”
- Increase input requirements of Upwell structures
- Split Upwell structures into four functionally identical racial variants each to enhance Lore
PVE
- Dynamically generated mission sites
- Dynamically generated Exploration sites – static sites don’t feel like “exploration”
- Adaptive AI (esp. on Rogue Drones)
- AI that competes for resources the same way players do
Active role in CSM
- CSM currently acts as an “echo chamber” – focus on countering ideas that negatively affect baseliners
- There are a lot of ideas raised on the forums and Discords I’m in (TIS, UK, RIP, DammFam, Matari, ARC, etc) that I agree with, and I’ll want to advance those ideas
Archer: You received an endorsement from Ferra Orta, one of the directors of Ushra’Khan. How do you know him? From publicly known information, that is an extremely unlikely endorsement to have! Do you know him out-of-game? Or…?
Komi: Ferra contacted me some months ago, we have done some business. That’s all. [And OOC we share some discords and stuff…]
Archer: A large number of players (RPers and non-RPers) are suggesting you are a hypocrite for leaving CONCORD’s protection in Hisec to get Ushra’Khan’s protection in nullsec, where they are perceived to be vicious and lawless/criminal by many (not me personally). How will you justify these actions RP-wise, especially since there does not appear to be an apparent connection (RP-wise) between Komi and Ushra’Khan/Ferra Orta, or any reason why they should give you amnesty at all. I think it is safe to say that if Ferra wasn’t your friend OOC, they’d have killed you themselves!
Komi: CONCORD simply could not provide protection for me. They would have blown up anybody who engaged me illegally, but they are not responsible for my personal safety. I knew of at least one smartbombing ship that waited for me, so I had to flee in a Probe that wasn’t even fully fitted and I soon found myself stranded deep in nullsec. It just happened that I was close to Ushra’Khan space, so I asked for help and they sent a fleet from Amamake to rescue me. The other RPers calling them criminals don’t seem to understand the concept of Ushra’Khan’s alliance Tag.
If I didn’t ask them for help, or if I hadn’t proven myself before, they might have killed me, but they are honorable and there are things worth more than ISK. I have shown my good will to the Minmatar people.
Archer: What are your thoughts, feelings, or comments on The Hunt up to this point in time?
Komi [OOC]: I think the hunt is an event that really fits into eve. Bounties in Eve are kind of meaningless right now, but since the hunt would end up in a biomassed character that someone really cares about, it would probably give a great feeling of accomplishment to the person that claims it, being the ONE that managed to take the target down. As a target it was giving me a lot of accomplishment, too. Dealing with blackmails, managing to escape a prison. However, I could feel it interrupt my gameplay a little since I was stranded in Nullsec and couldn’t return to my BPC-“business” and production. It was actually a little sad that the bounty didn’t seem to motivate anyone following me into Nullsec. I did not ever think the hunt was unfair or a bad move, but the one thing you could improve is not taking in game events to a personal level. “Egomaniacal RPer” is a personal attack and it really hurt me a little after all the work I had done for my campaign and all the future work I prepared for. So that was kind of a dick move. Whatever, it proves that Eve can be much fun and inspiration ^_^. For sure it has been a good RP opportunity!
My thoughts post-interview? Komi has been a good sport throughout the hunt and has demonstrated some spine. While I still do not believe Komi is qualified in the slightest to join CSM, I do not believe, however, that The Hunt is justified any longer.
The Hunt was started per the following criteria:
- Gratuitous egomania, AND
- Failing to run for CSM on qualifications OR a concrete platform
“Gratuitous egomania” is relative to other kinds of engagement - Komi’s engagement with the community throughout the hunt and even her outreach to Ushra’Khan indicates she is more down-to-Earth than she had presented herself to be up to now since her only public profile prior to the Hunt had been largely confined to RP, the FTL Hack News, and the campaign itself. I think Komi certainly could have presented herself better, but I think she has demonstrated RP/OOC Komi is not, in fact, too egomaniacal given her limited public exposure. The first criterion is faltering.
The second criteria was on failing to produce qualifications or platform… well, she has no qualifications, but NOW she has presented a more concrete platform if not previously, and has also indicated she has long been present on Discord servers where she agrees with the ideas of others, so we know she is not entirely out of touch with constituents. The second criterion is no longer being satisfied.
Since the criteria for which I started The Hunt are no longer being met by a relatively wide margin, I think it is safe to end it here and now, and I will be editing the initial post and title accordingly.
I am aware that many of you still wish to see her podded just to see if she follows through the self-imposed biomass comittment - personally I do not think a bounty is required for that given that there’s really no “deadline” for such a thing (think about it: the longer the character lives, the more devastating the biomass) and this would not affect Komi’s candidacy or ability to serve on CSM per policy anyway, so I will not maintain this thread for the purpose of placing a bounty on seeing if Komi biomasses herself on getting podded. If you guys want to keep hunting Komi, go for it. If you guys insist on running a bounty for Komi to biomass herself, you may use this thread to decide among yourselves who will participate in that bounty and who the new organizer will be so they can form a new thread for that hunt since I will be terminating this hunt started by this thread and updating the first post/thread title accordingly.
How and why did the interview come about? It was simply a matter of good will on my part. I reached out to her to provide her with a second opportunity by which to disqualify the criteria on which The Hunt was started. I asked for nothing in return. I had nothing to gain from doing so either. Initially she was not happy to hear from me and was very suspicious of my intentions, but obviously I kept my word and now the above interview is dual-posted on her thread.
Do I have any regrets starting this? Off the top of my head, I think my only regret was that there were certain things I failed to state but could have stated and that there were things I could stated more clearly initially so that my views and rationale would not be misrepresented and so that I would not need to make amendments or clarifications later on (that might not be read or taken into account). I also regret that some have blended my individual views and statements with those of others, but that’s inevitable with something like this

I am not aware of any Code violations committed by Komi. In fact, James 315 is a fervent supporter of baseliner rights. One of the main reasons we gank the capsuleer miners in highsec is because they leave nothing behind for the regular people.
Although Komi seems meek, and an unlikely source of change, she represents an aspect of Eve that has atrophied to nothing over the years. CCP doesn’t even link to their own fiction/news portal on their homepage or launcher.
I say, let the big boys use their time on the CSM to lobby for the next “Tranquility Trading Tower Tax Relief Act” - we cannot stop them anyway. Komi’s mere presence on the CSM would be a strong statement that not all players care about the latest Avatar ship model and doomsday device animation.

My thoughts:
Well, this premature fizzling out is slightly irritating.
I already have over a million slaves on order coming in from various places.
Still, no worries - Komi has already determined their fates with her bleating attempts at besmirching my fine character.
However, even such vapid foolishness must be addressed in example before the slaves or the disgusting and sullen lazy rabble might be even more unproductive than they are now. Bunch of useless gits already have to be beaten into barely making their quite easy quotas. I generously give them three entire time-segments out of twenty-four all for themselves and they just waste them laying around sleeping! Such sloth!
I could have purchased actual useful things instead such as beautiful Slaver Hounds or wonderful Fedos rather than more soulless and near-brainless morons.
Don’t worry, Komi old friend, all those slaves will know you are the reason they meet their green glittery deaths.

@Komi_Valentine I followed you into Null but our timezones never seemed to align so I headed home. But thanks to both you and @Archer_en_Tilavine this was a fun little event and I enjoyed hunting Komi while it lasted

Well, I’m kind of disappointed. When I saw the notification pop up saying, “the Hunt for Komi Valentine is Over,” I thought it meant she was podded, and I involuntarily made a noise that sounded like a penguin cumming. I couldn’t make that sound again if I tried.
Anyway, I got into this purely for the entertainment value, but I was also hoping I might be able to use video of her death in a get-out-the-vote video. I guess I still could, but without any sort of genuine concern over her qualifications, killing her would just seem mean spirited.

I’ve been reading through this entire thread… And… Well… The levels of psychopathy on display here is almost unprecedented.
Xuxe Xu and her quest to blame Komi for her (claimed) genocide of millions of innocent souls is next level psycho.
To be clear: Only Xuxe Xu can be responsible for Xuxe Xu’s actions.
That she blames another person for her actions is just an excuse and does not put the true responsibility on Komi. Komi did not do the action, nor does she wish it to happen. Though, it is ultimately out of her control. Especially since Xuxe Xu’s threats of genocide is not the only cloud hanging over Komi’s head.
There was still a hunt for her.
And lets not forget that capsuleers are basically demigods. We are immortal. We are free of the bounds of mortality. We wield unimaginable power compared to the average citizen. And no-matter what happens, we will return in a new physical body.
Imagine being mortal and being hunted by literal demigods. And why is this mortal such a threat anyways? Some political discourse? Really? Each of us capsuleers will outlive Komi in any case. So why all the fuss? Even if she dies of old age, many years from now, it will still be but a moment for Capsuleers.
Anyways… I digress.
My point is just that, if Xuxe Xu actually goes through with it, and commits genocide, it is only her that bears the responsibility for that.
As a demigod, she has other options to achieve her goal to stop Komi. Just the mortality of Komi, should make it an easy case for a resourceful capsuleer, like Xuxe Xu, to get Komi out of the way. Hell… Even if Xuxe Xu dies a hundred times in the attempt, Xuxe Xu will still be alive, while Komi would have met her maker.
Instead Xuxe Xu would rather sacrifice millions of innocent souls.
You look me in the eye, and tell me that that isn’t a complete lack of humanity. And/or, that despite being immortal, Xuxe Xu is still afraid of death. The deadly irony…

Just because you are a capsuleer does not mean you aren’t human. To state you have abandonned your humanity is not stating a virtue. It is stating a loss.
Abandoning your roots like that, is a telltale sign of narcissistic personality disorder. I would argue with a combined sub-type of Elitist- and unprincipled narcissist. Furthermore with underlying comorbid psychopathy.
To be clear… It isn’t uncommon for capsuleers to suffer in varying degrees of these disorders. Immortality has a tendency to… lets say: lead the psyche astray.
Mostly though, caspuleers merely end up in a state of ignorance regarding the cost of lives in battle. Despite evacuation systems do very well these days, not all crew and citizens, of stations and ships, escape destruction. Most capsuleers don’t give it second thought at all.
And honestly. I don’t blame them that much. It’s sad, but true. And probably not gonna change.
But you, Xuxe Xu… You are aware of these things, clearly. Despite this, you disassociate with these people, that are the same as you, just with less metal in their skulls, and you have no regard for their lives. Actively, you seek to find excuses to murder millions of people that has no stake in the power-play that has been going on here.
And you have, seemingly, no remorse for those actions.
On top of that, when you state you are more than human, then yes… Technically, being immortal is being more than human. Trans-humanism as they say…
But you can’t spell trans-humanism without human.
So I say again. That you state that you have abandoned your human roots and your humanity, just makes you declare that you have lost any claim to morality, claims of virtue, claims of ethics and so on. Why? Because all of those are human constructs.
This gives you great freedom to claim that you make a “better world”, but that claim, in your case is like claiming that your Pod in space, is like bedrock. Yes. It is. For you. No one else.
Also, lastly… To claim you are “better than human”… Well… Again… That statement only makes sense to you. To everyone else, it would seem you are less than human, since you have abandoned you own humanity. You’ve lost the capacity to consider your actions and their consequences for others. You might intellectually be aware of them, but the only consequences you care about, is what benefits you personally.
And, no. I’m not writing this to convince you of anything, Xuxe Xu.
I’m writing this to shed light on the philosophy you practice. To dissect your personality and show New Eden how cruel humans can become, when they abandon their own humanity. To show that, once you do that, you become an island. Nothing you will ever claim will carry any weight. If other capsuleers are considering to support you and join forces with you, they will need to consider the points I’ve made here.
I’m not saying that you can’t ever reconcile with your own humanity. I’m just saying that until you do, no sane human or capsuleer will support you or your claims, of whatever it is that you claim.
